Job summary

RR Donnelley & Sons is seeking a shipping/receiving assistant to support daily materials movement, receiving, loading, unloading and shipping of printed products. The role ensures orders are prepared according to customer specifications and service level agreements.

You will maintain production records, coordinate with cross-functional teams, and participate in continuous improvement initiatives while adhering to safety regulations and quality standards.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED preferred.
• Experience in manufacturing/operations environment a plus.
• Able to follow policies, procedures and safety rules.

Responsibilities

• Assist shipping department with materials movement, receiving, loading and shipping.
• Prepare shipments to meet customer specifications and SLAs.
• Audit processes to ensure production specs are met and maintain records.
• Coordinate with other departments to plan shipping/receiving activities.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area and comply with safety rules.
• May drive local delivery van in accordance with laws and policies.

Job Description

Assists with daily activities of shipping department regarding materials movement or handling, receiving, loading, unloading, transporting, stacking, order filling and shipping printed product. Performs manual and clerical duties related to the preparation and shipment of customer samples and finished product mailed primarily through Fed Ex, UPS, USPS and other similar carriers. Ensures product is produced and prepared according to customer specifications and service level agreements.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction and guidance to employees and audit work processes and products to confirm production specifications are met
• Maintain positive and effective relationships with employees. Direct employees to the appropriate manager regarding policy questions
• Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, quality standards, policies and procedures. Report any problems, potential problems, hazardous situations to management
• Inspect products and/or shipments to verify conformance to specifications
• Review and approve production samples, and/or shipments as necessary
• Assist management with implementation of "Continuous Improvement" initiatives
• Maintain records; compile standard reports, file, tabulate, and perform routine clerical tasks
• When necessary, attend production meetings and/or confer with other departments to coordinate production activities
• Coordinate or perform training for new employees, contract workers, and/or guests to ensure safety, quality, and production requirements are understood
• Report any problems, potential problems, hazardous situations to management
• Inspect products and/or shipments to verify conformance to specifications
• When necessary, attend production meetings and/or confer with other departments to coordinate shipping/receiving activities.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area. Maintain security at receiving/shipping dock doors
• Ensure the "Quality Policy and Objectives" are understood and achieved
• May drive delivery van to transport materials or products in local area, maintaining a safe vehicle and comply with all government regulatory laws

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred
• 1 or more years of experience in a manufacturing/operations environment
• Able to consistently apply applicable policies, procedures, regulations, and program objectives when carrying out the duties of the job
• May provide oversight of work conducted by junior-level staff and/or review/audit work for accuracy.
• Must have basic knowledge of technology including computers and software programs such as MS Office, MAC word processing, spreadsheets, or other programs specific to the job in order to complete job duties successfully
• Must have adequate oral and written communication skills to communicate effectively across departments when completing assignments
• Must have strong organizational skills with the ability to manage deadlines and prioritize workload and make adjustments to meet business needs
• Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and rarely lift in excess of 50 pounds
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentages
• Must be able to communicate and interact with a variety of internal/external customers and/or co-workers at level of detail required to resolve issues

Additional Information

The national pay range for this role is $45540 year. The pay range may be slightly lower or higher based on the geographic location of the hired employee. The actual pay offered may vary based upon, but not limited to: education, skills, experience, proficiency, performance, shift and location. In addition to base salary, depending on the role, the total compensation package may also include participation in a bonus, commission or incentive program.
