The City of Loganville

is seeking a full time Water Distribution Technician in the Water Department. Technical position responsible for reading water meters and recording findings. Work also involves installing and repairing meters and water lines, responding to emergency calls and complaints.

Major Duties:
  • Install / Reads water meters on assigned route; records findings; maintains records of meters readings; reports meters not accessible for reading; reports unusual conditions, readings as required for customers moving in and out of the system.
  • Repairs and maintains water lines; repairs leaks; installs new lines and replaces existing lines that need repairs; requests line locates before digging proceeds.
Knowledge Required by the Position:
  • Methods and procedures in installing and reading meters and recording utilities consumption.
  • Knowledge of water line repair procedures.
  • Skill in the use of the mechanical equipment and tools used in reading and repairing meters.
  • Ability to follow established safety rules and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Ability to safely drive and operate the department's assigned vehicles and equipment.
  • Ability to work in a variety of extreme weather conditions for extended periods of time.
  • Available and able to respond seven days a week, 24 hours a day for system emergencies as needed.
  • Ability to communicate and understand, follow oral and written instructions in the English language.
Requirements:

High school diploma or GED equivalent, desire (1) year of related experience; Distribution System Operator License (desirable) or obtain within 12 months; possesses a valid State of Georgia driver's license or Class A CDL (desirable) and a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) and Back Ground Check; and passing a Drug Screen test.
