You will support the lead teacher to create a nurturing, engaging classroom that fosters growth, curiosity, and social-emotional development for preschool children. Join our vibrant early childhood education team as a VPK (Voluntary Prekindergarten) Assistant Teacher, where your enthusiasm and dedication will help shape young minds during their foundational learning years. In this role, you will support lead teacher in creating a nurturing, engaging, and educational environment that promotes growth, curiosity, and social-emotional development for preschool children. Your energy and commitment will directly contribute to fostering a love of learning and setting the stage for future academic success.

Responsibilities

• Assist lead teacher in implementing curriculum activities aligned with early childhood education standards, including literacy, math, and social skills development.
• Support classroom management by supervising children during activities, transitions, and outdoor play to ensure safety and positive behavior.
• Engage children in educational games, arts and crafts, story time, and hands-on learning experiences that promote cognitive and emotional growth.
• Use computers and educational technologies effectively to enhance learning experiences.
• Support classroom behavior management strategies to create a positive learning atmosphere conducive to growth and exploration.

Experience

• Experience working with children in a VPK classroom.
• Have the required 45 hours with the Department of Children and Families.
• Knowledge of childhood development principles and early childhood education best practices is essential.
• Familiarity with classroom management techniques and behavior management strategies is important for maintaining an optimal learning environment.
• Strong communication skills with staff and parents.
• Certification in first aid and CPR is preferred to ensure safety during all activities.

• Proficiency in MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook and Internet.
• Ability to multi-task, work independently and make responsible judgment calls.
• Ability to work effectively with Diocesan employees, departments heads, representatives of other agencies and the general public.
