Job summary

Partner Veterinary Emergency & Specialty Center in Frederick, MD is seeking a board-certified or residency-trained Veterinary Criticalist to join our growing critical care service. You will lead the management of critically ill patients, process transfers from the ER, and provide expert consultation across multiple specialties.

Qualifications

  • DVM degree from an accredited university.
  • Board-certified or residency-trained in Critical Care.
  • Licensure in good standing to practice in Maryland.
  • Ability to make decisions and communicate clearly with team members and pet families.
  • Commitment to practicing highest standard of veterinary medicine and ethics.
  • Clinical experience in emergency medicine or critical care, or completed specialty internship.
  • Professional demeanor with interpersonal skills and a positive attitude.
  • Support for new graduates with mentorship and development.

Responsibilities

  • Lead management of critically ill hospitalized patients and resuscitation efforts.
  • Receive transfers from ER and other services requiring intensive care.
  • Provide consultation and support to other departments for complex cases and anesthesia.
  • Collaborate with Neurology, Surgery, Oncology, Internal Medicine, Cardiology, and Emergency Medicine teams.

Education

The Opportunity

We are excited to welcome a board-certified or residency-trained Veterinary Criticalist to our growing team in Frederick, Maryland. As our second criticalist, you'll have the opportunity to help shape and grow our critical care service while working alongside an established multidisciplinary specialty and emergency team.

You'll lead the management of critically ill hospitalized patients and receive transfers from the ER and other services requiring resuscitation and/or ongoing intensive care. You'll also provide consultation and support to other departments for complex cases, procedures, and challenging anesthesia.

The critical care team is part of a specialty network collaborating with experts across Neurology, Surgery, Oncology, Internal Medicine, Cardiology, and Emergency Medicine, with opportunities to learn from and contribute to colleagues across disciplines.
