Job summary

Kennedy International School in New York seeks a full-time Teacher Assistant for the Lower School to support Pre-K3 classes and assist during camps as a Lead Teacher.

You will help with lesson prep, supervise students during transitions, and collaborate with lead teachers on plans, conferences, and trainings; a high school diploma is required, with a bachelor’s preferred and two years of relevant experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Bachelor’s degree in education or relevant field preferred.
• At least 2 years of experience as a teaching assistant or similar role.
• Preschool experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assisting teachers with lesson preparation by getting materials ready and setting up equipment.
• Working with the lead teacher to monitor the class schedule.
• Going over lesson material with students individually or in small groups.
• Ensuring the classroom environment is safe, clean and tidy.
• Overseeing students during non-classroom times including in-between classes, during lunch, recess, and on-field excursions.
• Collaborating with lead teachers to recognize issues students are facing and recommend solutions.
• Helping lead teachers to create lesson plans.
• Complying with state, school, and class rules and regulations.
• Attending all training classes, parent conferences, and faculty meetings.

We are looking for a full-time Teacher Assistant for our Lower School division for the 2026-2027 academic school year and play an active part in the day-to-day activities of our Pre-K3 classes. This role will be working during camps as a Lead Teacher.

• Preferred candidate will have a current U.S. work visa, if applicable

The hourly rate for this role is $ 26.19- 28.19 dependent on the candidate’s experience and qualifications, and covers all responsibilities, including orientation week meetings, as well as staff and parent meetings. 25 days paid vacation minimum. This role is eligible for benefits including medical insurance (80% covered by employer), dental, vision, Flexible Savings Account (FSA), and 401K retirement plan.
