Job summary

Peterson Health in Kerrville, Texas is seeking a Pharmacist for full-time, 8-hour rotating day shifts. Periodic weekends required as part of the schedule.

As staff pharmacist you will review medication orders for appropriateness, advise on therapy changes, ensure correct dispensing, and maintain compliance with federal and state regulations. A PharmD or Bachelor of Pharmacy and Texas license are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Pharmacy Degree or PharmD required.
• Licensed Pharmacist with the Texas State Board license.
• Experience: 1 year as pharmacist; hospital setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate providers’ medication orders for appropriateness, dosage, frequency, route and interactions; advise on therapy changes as needed.
• Check all medications dispensed for compliance with regulations and promote safe medication management as part of the clinical team.

The staff pharmacist evaluates providers’ medication orders for appropriateness of drug, dosage, frequency, route of administration and potential allergies and clinical interactions. The staff pharmacist makes recommendations for therapy changes to the provider as appropriate and/or manages therapies in accordance with medical staff approved pharmacy management protocols. The staff pharmacist checks all medications that are dispensed by the pharmacy and ensures compliance with all federal and state regulations regarding medications. The staff pharmacist participates as a critical member of the clinical team and practices and promotes safe medication management.

Required Education:

• Bachelor of Pharmacy Degree or PharmD

Preferred Education:

• Residency Trained

Preferred Skills:

• Adept at Microsoft, Excel, PowerPoint, etc

Required Licensure/Registration Certification:

• Licensed Pharmacist with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy

Preferred Licensure/Registration Certification:

• Sterile IV Compounding Certification

Preferred Experience:

One year experience working as a pharmacist, hospital pharmacy experience
