Job summary

Summit Academy North in Romulus, MI is hiring a full-time Special Education Teacher. The role focuses on delivering IEP-based instruction and supports to students with disabilities in a safe, collaborative environment.

The ideal candidate will hold Michigan SPED certification for secondary education, bring strong communication skills, and be committed to professional development and student success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Special Education is required.
• Michigan secondary SPED certification/licensure is required.
• Experience developing and implementing IEPs.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement lesson plans aligned to standards for diverse learners.
• Create assessments and evaluate student progress through tests, projects, and presentations.
• Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs).
• Deliver direct instruction in 1:1, small group, and co-taught settings with evidence-based strategies.
• Provide academic, behavioral, and social-emotional support for students with disabilities.
• Collaborate with general education staff to promote inclusive practices.
• Monitor progress and adjust instruction and interventions as needed.
• Maintain accurate records of progress and services provided.
• Stay current with best practices in special education.
• Participate in school activities and maintain a positive learning environment.
