A leading grocery retailer in Herndon, Virginia is seeking a department supervisor to manage the Produce Department. This role involves supervising up to 20 associates, ensuring compliance with company policies, and potentially overseeing the Floral Department. Ideal candidates will possess strong interpersonal skills, a high school diploma or GED, and a willingness to train others. Competitive hourly pay ranges from $18.00 to $29.75 based on experience.
Manage and supervise up to 20 associates in the Produce Department. May also be assigned responsibility for the Floral Department. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these departments. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Harris Teeter’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities may include interviewing and training associates; planning, assigning, and directing work; assist in appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining associates; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Exceptional interpersonal skills. Willingness to participate in and successfully complete required training and to work with the team to increase customer satisfaction and sales.
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or two to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos (in English). Ability to write simple correspondence (in English). Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other associates of the organization who only speak English.
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement.
Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Complete Company’s training including but not limited to: new hire orientation, food sanitation, customer service network, safety, food safety, and product knowledge.
