Howard Community College seeks a full-time Faculty member in Physical Sciences to teach introductory Physics and Chemistry courses for Allied Health Majors and related Earth Science courses for Education Majors. The anticipated start date is January 2027.

Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience. The role requires a Master's in Physical Sciences (Physics/Chemistry) or related Earth Science field and at least three years of college teaching, including lab and field activities.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Physical Sciences (Physics/Chemistry) or related Earth Science discipline.
  • Minimum of three years of college teaching experience in Introductory Physical Sciences and/or Earth Sciences.
  • Demonstrated record of teaching excellence at the college level.
  • Experience in development of lab and field activities.
  • Ability to teach using online teaching and LMS.
  • Ability to maintain updated LMS course sites and online gradebooks.

Responsibilities

  • Teach and/or coordinate lecture and lab courses in Physical Sciences.
  • Develop curriculum and engage with students across diverse populations.
  • Advise students and participate in college committees and service.
  • Develop lab and field activities and integrate active learning strategies.
  • Schedule variability to accommodate morning, afternoon, evening, and weekend classes.
