Job summary

Petaluma Health Center in Petaluma, CA is recruiting an Optometrist to join our interdisciplinary team within an integrated primary care model. You’ll provide full-scope routine and medical eye care at both our primary care clinic and standalone eye clinic, using Topcon OCTs and Humphrey Visual Fields.

As a Doctor of Optometry, you’ll diagnose and treat eye conditions, prescribe medications, glasses and contacts, and collaborate with specialists to optimize patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• OD degree from an accredited North American program.
• Residency training, MPH or prior FQHC/interdisciplinary experience preferred.
• Currently credentialed with MediCal preferred.

Responsibilities

• Examines, diagnoses, treats and manages eye disorders and injuries.
• Prescribes medications, eyeglasses and contact lenses as appropriate.
• Maintains high quality of care in basic and advanced eye care services for patients of all ages.
• Delivers treatment plans with informed consent discussion including options, risks and benefits.
• Makes referrals and communicates with specialists as needed.
• Provides and explains patient education materials.
• Follows a comprehensive program of preventive eye care.
• Ensures correct coding and accurate patient records for billing.
