Responsibilities and Duties

WHO/WHAT: If you ask Mom and Dad what they've been looking forward to most over the last decade, the answer probably isn't finishing medical school or residency. It's this. A baby in their arms, a dog at their feet, and a family of their own. As they prepare to head back to the ER, they're looking for someone they can trust to care for their little girl when they can't be there -—and love on her just as generously as they would. They firmly believe you can't spoil a baby—or a dog!—with too much affection, kindness, or snuggling. They want their daughter to spend her days being talked to, cuddled, played with, read to, taken on walks, and lovingly encouraged as she discovers the world around her. They're hoping to find someone with infant experience who understands just how much happens during these first years and genuinely delights in being part of it. You'll also help keep their four-legged first baby fed, walked, and loved.

Life with two ER physicians doesn't follow a traditional rhythm. Dad primarily works nights, so he'll often be home sleeping during the day, and Mom's schedule will also mean some overlap at home. They're looking for someone who's comfortable rolling with a household where people may be coming, going, working, or sleeping while confidently taking the lead with their little girl. Because patients and ER shifts don't allow for a last-minute change of plans, reliability is incredibly important to this family. They're looking for someone who takes their commitment seriously and understands that, outside of a true illness or emergency, they need to know their nanny will be there when scheduled. In return, you'll have two low-key, thoughtful parents who want to trust their nanny, appreciate the care they're providing, and welcome them into the family.

More than anything, these parents aren't searching for someone to simply keep their baby safe until they get home. They want someone who will love on their baby when they can't. Someone who understands what a privilege it is to be trusted with these early years and who could imagine becoming part of their daughter's world for not just one year, but hopefully several.

The IDEAL NANNY IS…

YOU're nurturing, gentle, patient, and the kind of person babies naturally feel safe with. You have solid infant experience and are happy getting down on the floor for tummy time, narrating the world on a neighborhood walk, singing the same silly song twelve times, and offering plenty of cuddles along the way.

You're also someone whose word means something. If you say you'll be there at 6 am, you're there. You understand that two ER physicians can't simply call their coworkers and say they'll be a little late because childcare fell through. Being reliable isn't just a nice quality in this role—it's what allows Mom and Dad to walk into the hospital knowing the most important person in their world is in wonderful hands. You're communicative and trustworthy, comfortable working independently when no one is home and equally comfortable caring for a baby while a parent is sleeping or spending time around the house. You appreciate a family that's low-key, kind, and happy to let a trusted caregiver settle into their own rhythm.

Most importantly, you believe little people deserve an enormous amount of love. If you're looking for a family who will value your reliability, trust your experience, and welcome you into a season they've spent years waiting for, this might just be your family.
