We are looking for a warm, proactive, and highly flexible Nanny/Family Assistant to support a private family in Chicago. This is a dynamic role for a family with two young children and involved parents who are looking for an extra set of hands across childcare, household support, organization, errands, light meal prep, and day-to-day family logistics. The family is seeking someone who can serve as an extra set of hands and a true partner in the home, someone who enjoys jumping in where needed, anticipating needs, and helping the household run smoothly so parents can spend more time focused on their children, family, and the things that matter most.

The ideal candidate is energetic, grounded, trustworthy, and able to read the room, knowing when to jump in, when to step back, and how to support a busy household with ease. The family retains a professional housekeeper for deep cleaning; this role focuses on household organization, daily upkeep, family support, and maintaining systems rather than heavy housekeeping.

Responsibilities:

• Provide childcare support for two young children, including school pick-up/drop-off support, activities, playtime, meals, and occasional evening care
• Partner with parents to support the children’s routines while respecting the family’s parenting style and boundaries
• Assist with light household upkeep, including dishes, laundry, tidying, toy organization, children’s rooms, playroom maintenance, and general household reset
• Help maintain household systems and organization projects, including closets, pantry, fridge, play areas, toy rotation, seasonal organization, and family supplies
• Manage family calendars and logistics, ensuring school events, extracurricular activities, appointments, camps, family commitments, and important deadlines are tracked and coordinated seamlessly
• Run errands, grocery shop, pick up prescriptions, coordinate returns, and assist with all day-to-day family needs
• Prepare simple, healthy meals and snacks for the children and family as needed
• Pack and clean lunch boxes, help with school-related organization, and keep children’s items stocked and organized
• Assist with vendor coordination, household projects, and general family logistics as needed
• Support all travel-related logistics, including packing and unpacking luggage, organizing travel necessities, and helping the family transition smoothly before and after travel
• Provide occasional support with the family’s dogs, including brief walks or letting them out
• Drive children safely as needed; family vehicle provided
• Provide occasional evening, weekend, overnight, and travel support as needed
• Maintain the highest level of discretion, trust, and professionalism in the home

Requirements:

• Prior experience supporting a private family in a nanny, family assistant, household assistant, or hybrid childcare/household role preferred
• Highly trustworthy, discreet, and professional with excellent judgment
• Flexible, proactive, and comfortable working in a dynamic, evolving household
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to anticipate needs and take initiative
• High emotional intelligence and a collaborative, team-oriented mindset
• Energetic and physically capable of navigating a large multi-level home and keeping up with young children
• Willing to take ownership of household organization, family logistics, and day-to-day household support
• Strong situational awareness and ability to intuitively adjust support based on the family's changing needs
• Comfortable around dogs and willing to assist with pet-related tasks as needed
• Flexibility for occasional overnights and travel
• Valid driver's license and comfortable driving children

Schedule:

Full-time, guaranteed 40 hours per week. The schedule will require flexibility and may vary week to week depending on the family's needs. Examples may include daytime coverage, afternoon/evening support, a standing weekly date night, occasional weekend hours, and periodic overnight or travel support. Advance notice will be provided whenever possible, and the family values a collaborative, flexible approach to scheduling.

Compensation:

$30-40/hour based on experience
