Job Summary

Mental Health Resource Center is looking for Registered Nurses (RNs) to provide and oversee quality and compassionate care for patients at our Northside and Southside inpatient psychiatric facilities. The crisis stabilization units provide services for adults and children. Most patients are admitted involuntarily to the facility via the Baker Act, the mental health act of Florida. The normal length of stay on the unit for patients is typically 3‑5 days. Due to the types of services provided, crisis stabilization units are fast‑paced working environments and present employees with challenging and rewarding opportunities. Employees work together and support one another in a friendly, team‑oriented atmosphere.

Responsibilities

• Admissions, discharges, taking doctor’s orders, administering medication, and providing routine and emergency medical care as needed.
• Assess the needs and problems of patients, plan the patient’s care in cooperation with the treatment team, monitor and observe patients, and oversee the care provided by the Behavioral Healthcare Assistants.
• Ensure services are provided in accordance with the Quality Assurance Standards for Behavioral Health Services and Joint Commission standards.
• Participate in training programs, including Crisis Intervention, CPR, Diagnosis and Behaviors, Ethics, and Confidentiality, and obtain continuing education credits.

Qualifications

• Valid State of Florida Registered Nurse license and either an Associate’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
• Experience in medical‑surgical and/or psychiatric nursing.
• Ability to make sound decisions independently and demonstrate good judgment in emergencies.
• Excellent communication skills to interact appropriately with internal and external customers, families, caregivers, community service providers, supervisory staff, and other department professionals.
• Attention to documentation, paperwork and system entries to meet internal and external guidelines for content, accuracy and timeliness.

Staff Registered Nurse: Monday through Friday, 7:00am-3:30pm
