UTHealth Houston's UT Physicians International District Multispecialty Clinic in Southwest Houston seeks a Full-Time Medical Assistant to support a patient-centered clinical team. The role focuses on safe, effective, timely care and a positive patient experience across a diverse community.

The position emphasizes assisting with visits, rooming patients, performing routine procedures, managing scheduling and clerical tasks, and upholding HIPAA guidelines within a high-quality care environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of an approved Medical Assistant training program preferred.
• Six months experience or completion of an approved Medical Assistant Training Program.

Responsibilities

• Performs responsibilities in a manner that promotes quality patient care and customer service/satisfaction.
• Effectively participates in planning and preparing for patient visits ensuring appropriate schedules, test results, and clinic specific requirements are available.
• Rooms patients consistent with clinic needs while documenting chief complaint, vital signs, and medication/allergy history.
• Performs appropriate hearing and vision testing, EKG, spirometry, point of care testing, specimen collection, and equipment cleaning/reprocessing as required.
• Prepares and stocks rooms and clinic supplies; cleans rooms between patients.
• Prepares for and assists with routine and specialty procedures.
• Schedules patients for follow up appointments or referrals and performs routine clerical duties.
• Performs telephone messaging and in-person screening with appropriate follow up.
• Respects HIPAA guidelines and maintains privacy and confidentiality.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
