Job summary

Carbon Health is hiring a full-time Medical Assistant to support our Westbank Market location in Austin, TX. You will handle front desk tasks, verify insurance, triage patients and assist with provider procedures, including phlebotomy, EKGs and related duties.

The role requires at least 1 year of MA experience, current BLS, and willingness to obtain DOT certification; weekend/holiday availability is expected. Excellent communication is essential for patient care and teamwork.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current BLS certification, willingness to obtain DOT certification.
• 1+ years experience as a Medical Assistant.
• Phlebotomy experience required.
• Great communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Take vitals, collect patient history and perform triage.
• Assist with procedures such as incision and drainage, lacerations and wound care.
• Administer medications via intradermal, intramuscular and subcutaneous routes, perform ear lavages and run EKGs.
• Conduct lab testing such as urinalysis, pregnancy tests, glucose testing, rapid tests (strep, influenza, HIV).
• Manage front desk and receptionist duties as needed.
• Complete training and become DOT-certified to perform urine screens and breath alcohol tests.

About the role

• The full-time medical assistant role will have a primary assignment at our Westbank Market location in Austin, TX 78746. Medical assistant duties include front desk check-in, insurance verification, patient triage completion, assisting with provider-led medical procedures, as well as performing procedures such as phlebotomy, EKGs, ear lavages, and other essential medical assistant duties as the position requires. Weekend and holiday availability is required.

What you'll do

• Perform patient care by taking vitals, patient history and triaging
• Assist with procedures such as incision and drainage, lacerations and wound care
• Administer medications via intradermal, intramuscular and subcutaneous routes, carry out ear lavages and run EKGs
• Conduct lab testing such as urinalysis, urine pregnancy test, blood glucose testing, monospot, rapid strep and influenza testing, rapid HIV testing
• Manage the front desk and perform receptionist duties as needed
• Complete training and become certified with the Department of Transportation to perform Urine Drug Screens and Breath Alcohol Tests

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Current BLS certification, willingness to obtain DOT certification
• 1+ years experience as a Medical Assistant required
• Phlebotomy experience required
