Job summary

Manteo Community Health Center, part of Ocracoke Health Centers, Inc., is seeking a compassionate Medical Assistant to join our nonprofit primary care team. We help patients in our community receive high-quality, affordable healthcare in a welcoming environment where relationships matter.

We offer a Monday-Friday schedule (8:00 AM-5:00 PM) with no evenings, weekends, or major holidays, plus competitive benefits and PTO.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Medical Assistant certification preferred but not required.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• A team player who enjoys helping others.
• Experience in a medical office is helpful, but we encourage motivated candidates from healthcare or customer service backgrounds to apply.

Responsibilities

• Room patients and prepare them for visits.
• Document medical histories, current medications, and vital signs.
• Assist providers with examinations and minor procedures.
• Collect specimens and perform routine screenings and tests.
• Document patient care in Athena EMR (Electronic Medical Records).
• Support efficient patient flow throughout the clinic.
• Communicate professionally with patients, families, providers, and care team.

What You’ll Do

As a Medical Assistant, you'll work closely with our providers to deliver exceptional primary care while helping patients feel welcomed, informed, and cared for.

Responsibilities include:

• Rooming patients and preparing them for their scheduled visits
• Obtaining and documenting medical histories, current medications, and vital signs
• Assisting providers with patient examinations and minor in-office procedures
• Collecting specimens and performing routine screenings and clinical tests
• Accurately documenting patient care and clinical information in Athena EMR (Electronic Medical Records system)
• Supporting efficient patient flow throughout the clinic
• Communicating professionally with patients, families, providers, and other members of the care team
