Job summary

Harris Teeter in Wesley Chapel, NC is seeking a Meat/Seafood Department Supervisor to manage and supervise up to 15 associates. You will direct operations, interview and train staff, plan and assign work, and evaluate performance in line with company policies and applicable laws.

You will address customer and associate issues, support training goals, and strive to increase customer satisfaction and sales. The role requires strong interpersonal skills and English proficiency.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; or two to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Reading and writing basic English; ability to present information to groups.
• Knowledge of store computer systems and office software.

Job description

Manage and supervise up 15 associates in the Meat/Seafood Department. Is responsible the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these departments. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Harris Teeter's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities may include interviewing and training associates; planning, assigning, and directing work; assist in appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining associates; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE. High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or two to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos [in English]. Ability to write simple correspondence [in English]. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other associates of the organization who only speak English.

COMPUTER SKILLS. To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of HT Internet software; E-mail; Inventory software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS. Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

REASONING ABILITY. Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS. Complete Company's training including but not limited to: new hire orientation, food sanitation, customer service network, safety, food safety, and product knowledge.
