Job summary

Stevenson University in Maryland seeks a full-time mathematics faculty member (open rank) for the Applied Mathematics program. Responsibilities include teaching, course development, student advising, mentoring, service, and ongoing undergraduate scholarship.

Doctorate in mathematics is required for rank; a Master's in applied mathematics or mathematics with teaching experience may qualify for Lecturer. Preference for applied mathematicians and statisticians, with ability to engage undergraduates

Qualifications

PhD in mathematics required for open rank (Assistant Professor or higher); Master’s degree allowed for Lecturer with teaching experience.
Strong commitment to quality teaching and maintaining an active undergraduate research program.
Ability to teach in multiple areas of mathematics and to engage in curriculum development and assessment.

Responsibilities

Teach 24-30 contact hours per academic year, as assigned.
Develop and update courses and syllabi each term, using Blackboard and other tools.
Advise, mentor, and guide students and supervise undergraduate scholarly activity.
Engage in service to the School of the Sciences and Stevenson University.
Pursue external funding opportunities and involve undergraduates in research.
