Responsibilities

  • Perform complete interior and exterior vehicle detailing.
  • Wash, dry, polish, and prepare vehicles to meet dealership quality standards.
  • Vacuum and thoroughly clean vehicle interiors and surfaces.
  • Prepare new and used vehicles for customer delivery and dealership display.
  • Coordinate daily workflow and prioritize vehicles based on dealership needs.
  • Provide guidance and hands-on support to other members of the detail team.
  • Inspect completed vehicles to ensure quality and consistency before delivery.
  • Help train new Detail Technicians on proper processes, products, equipment, and expectations.
  • Monitor detailing supplies and communicate inventory or equipment needs to management.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized detail department.
  • Identify and report vehicle damage, safety concerns, or equipment issues.
  • Help the team meet productivity expectations while maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Lead by example through reliability, teamwork, professionalism, and attention to detail.

Lead Automotive Detailer – Full-Time | McGrath Ford

About the Opportunity

McGrath Ford is looking for a Full-Time Lead Automotive Detailer to join our team in Cedar Rapids! This position is ideal for an experienced automotive detailer who takes pride in producing high-quality work and is ready to take the next step into a leadership role.

As a Lead Detailer, you’ll work hands-on alongside the detail team while helping maintain quality, efficiency, and organization within the department. For someone who demonstrates strong leadership and performance, this role also offers the opportunity to continue growing within McGrath.

What You’ll Do
  • Perform complete interior and exterior vehicle detailing
  • Wash, dry, polish, and prepare vehicles to meet dealership quality standards
  • Vacuum and thoroughly clean vehicle interiors, including windows, dashboards, consoles, upholstery, and other surfaces
  • Clean and dress tires, wheels, engine compartments, and other exterior components as needed
  • Prepare new and used vehicles for customer delivery and dealership display
  • Help coordinate daily workflow and prioritize vehicles based on dealership needs
  • Provide guidance and hands-on support to other members of the detail team
  • Inspect completed vehicles to ensure quality and consistency before delivery
  • Help train new Detail Technicians on proper processes, products, equipment, and expectations
  • Monitor detailing supplies and communicate inventory or equipment needs to management

Requirements
  • Previous automotive detailing, vehicle reconditioning, or related experience required
  • Strong knowledge of automotive detailing techniques, products, tools, and equipment
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in high-quality workmanship
  • Ability to provide direction and support to other team members
  • Dependable with a strong work ethic and consistent attendance
  • Ability to prioritize work and stay organized in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative when needed
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record required
  • Must be at least 18 years old
