Job summary

Naples Classical Academy is seeking a full-time Latin Teacher for a 10-month school year. The teacher will instruct Latin across assigned sections, writing lessons and using the Hillsdale College K-12 Latin curriculum.

Strong Latin skills and classroom leadership are required to guide students with firmness and gentleness appropriate to their age. Qualified candidates will hold a bachelor degree, with preferred Florida educator certification and teaching experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree from an accredited college or university (or graduating with a degree before the start of the new school year).
• Florida Educator Certification in corresponding subject area or Statement of Status of Eligibility showing eligible status (preferred).
• Degree in subject or related discipline (preferred).
• Knowledge of subject area (required).

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to classical education and the school's vision, mission, and philosophy, and foster these principles in students.
• Demonstrate mastery of Latin language concepts and effectively transmit this knowledge to students.
• Develop and maintain a climate of wonder, openness, justice, and mutual respect while modeling prudent and responsible behavior.
• Engage every student in grade-appropriate learning to promote intellectual and moral development and collaborate with ESE to implement IEPs.
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, colleagues, leadership, and community members.
• Develop and implement lesson plans according to Hillsdale College K-12 Latin curriculum scope and sequence.
• Manage the classroom using established routines to maintain a culture of learning.
• Address student misconduct promptly and resolve conflicts.
• Maintain a professional development plan and participate in PD activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
