Job Description

Reporting directly to the Dean of Health and Wellness Sciences, the Full-Time Faculty member will serve as a Primary Instructor/Program Coordinator for the Ohio Department of Health (ODH) Approved Nurse Aide Training and Competency Evaluation Program (NATCEP). This educator delivers high-quality classroom, lab, and clinical instruction for the Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) course, ensuring full alignment with Ohio Administrative Code (OAC).


All faculty members are responsible for serving Lorain County and surrounding communities, driving student success, maintaining strict state compliance, fulfilling all contracted hours as scheduled, and upholding the college's vision, mission, and core values.

Principal Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities of the Full Time Faculty position include:

Instructional Delivery & Curriculum: Deliver the approved NATCEP curriculum (lecture, lab, and clinical) to which he or she is assigned; Assist the Program Director with curriculum development and curriculum management utilizing course learning management systems (i.e., Canvas, YuJa); Assist Program Director with class transition to arranged clinical sites; Coordinate with Program Director regarding curriculum adjustments, equipment needs, safety protocols; Collaborates with Program Director to provide routine and preventative maintenance on equipment, maintain laboratory cleanliness and organization; Compliance & Regulatory Administration; Document, coordinate, and assist Program Director with all make-up hours to guarantee all trainees complete the mandatory training hours; Maintain immaculate student records, including skills check-off sheets, clinical hours, and attendance rosters;
Collaborate with Program Director to complete attendance reports and accurate documentation in the ODH online training management system (EIDC); Prepare and collaborate with the Program Director for ODH inspections to ensure continuous program accreditation; Coordinate with the Program Director to track completion of clinical requirements.

Student Assessment & Success Support: Prepare trainees for the Ohio CNA Exam including skills practice dates and online tutoring for the knowledge exam; Student academic monitoring and intervention including structured student guidance and remediation for those needing extra help in theory or clinical practice; Supervision and coordination of CNA State Test on scheduled dates including the set up of the skills lab and electronic test.


Professional & Institutional Engagement: Participate in department meetings, curriculum development committees, and college-wide initiatives: Maintain active communication with partner nursing homes and clinical site coordinators: Pursue continuous professional development in adult learning methodologies and geriatric nursing practices.

Professional Statement

Please describe your teaching philosophy as it relates to health sciences and vocational education. Address how you will design and deliver instruction that aligns with the Ohio Department of Health (ODH) NATCEP curriculum standards. Additionally, include with your statement how you will adapt your teaching practices to promote learning, engagement, and academic achievement for all students, spanning secondary (high-school dual-enrollment) through traditional and non-traditional post-secondary learners.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications: Registered Nurse with current, valid license in the State of Ohio; Valid Ohio Department of Health Train-the-Trainer certificate; American Heart Association BLS certification; minimum of 2 years nursing experience as an RN at least one of which shall be in long-term care services per Ohio Department of Health regulation; up to date immunization records and negative TB screening; strong leadership, interpersonal, organizational, and networking skills to work with students, colleagues, and community contacts.


Preferred Qualifications: Registered Nurse with BSN; experience with on-line/blended course instruction and development; teaching experience in an ODH Nurse Aide Training and Competency Evaluation Program including EIDC entry; experience delivering instruction to high school and post-secondary student populations; strong technology skills including knowledge of college procedures related to course instruction and management; knowledge of Excel, Word, PeopleSoft and Canvas Learning Management System.
