Job summary

Montgomery College is hiring three full-time English and Reading faculty members for January 2027 start across Takoma Park/Silver Spring, Rockville, and Germantown campuses. Positions are part of a collective bargaining unit and require a strong commitment to student success and engaging teaching practices.

Responsibilities include teaching 30 semester hours annually across a range of composition courses, developing interdisciplinary assignments, and delivering courses in multiple formats

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in English Composition/Rhetoric, English Education, or closely related field.
• 12 credit hours of college-level teaching experience in English composition.
• Ability to use word processing programs and basic internet applications.
• Ability to use Blackboard in instructional delivery.
• Ability to deliver courses in multiple formats (in-person, synchronous remote, asynchronous).
• Authorized to work in the United States without employer visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Teach 30 semester hours per academic year in composition courses.
• Develop teaching assignments integrating students’ majors and interdisciplinary learning.
• Teach across day, evening, weekend schedules including summer/winter sessions.
• Deliver courses in-person, synchronous remote, and asynchronous distance learning.
• Engage students through active and collaborative learning approaches.
• Hold one-on-one conferences during office hours to support student success.
• Incorporate culturally relevant pedagogy and universal design.
• Advise on degree planning and transfer options.
• Integrate Blackboard and low-cost resources (OER) into instruction.
• Serve on or lead department/discipline/campus/college committees.
• Maintain ongoing professional development and participate in professional organizations.
