Responsibilities

• Meets and instructs classes in the assigned locations and at designated times.
• Plans a program of study that meets individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
• Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to students’ maturity and interests.
• Prepares for classes assigned and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate supervisor.
• Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
• Guides learning toward curriculum goals and establishes clear objectives for lessons and projects.
• Employs various instructional techniques and media suited to location constraints and student needs.
• Strives to implement the district’s philosophy of education and instructional goals.
• Assesses student progress and provides progress reports as required.
• Diagnoses learning disabilities and seeks district specialist assistance as required.
• Protects students, equipment, and facilities through safety precautions.
• Maintains accurate records as required by law and policy.
• Assists administration in implementing policies governing student life and conduct.
• Makes provisions to be available to students and parents outside instructional day when required.
• Plans and supervises assignments for Assistant Teacher(s) and volunteers and evaluates their performance.
• Strives to maintain and improve professional competence.
• Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees.
• Performs additional duties as assigned by the principal.
