University of Maine System is seeking a Child Care Assistant in Orono, ME to provide developmentally appropriate care for infants, toddlers and preschoolers. Schedule is Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m., 40 hours weekly at $18.79 per hour.

Responsibilities include supporting curriculum, communicating with families, and maintaining safety and records. CPR/First Aid certification is required within 90 days of hire.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated communication skills and ability to work effectively as a team member.
• Ability to safely lift and care for children aged 6 weeks to 6 years old.
• Employee must earn Pediatric CPR and First Aid certification within 90 days of hire (training provided).

Responsabilités

• Attends to each child’s emotional and physical needs, implementing developmentally appropriate activities.
• Assists in planning and evaluating child care curriculum and environment to be visually appealing and child-centered.
• Communicates regularly with parents/guardians about progress and issues.
• Maintains oversight of the total group of children.
• Maintains records on attendance, behavior, development, and medical attention.
• Ensures a healthy and safe child care environment by adhering to policies.
• Oversees and supports student or temporary employees.
• Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
