  • Properly label, date, store, and rotate food items.
  • Monitor food supplies and notify the Dietary Manager of items that need to be ordered.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen and food preparation areas.
  • Clean and sanitize cooking equipment, utensils, work surfaces, and storage areas.
  • Assist with receiving and storing food deliveries as needed.
  • Minimize food waste while maintaining appropriate food quality and quantity.
  • Work cooperatively with dietary staff, nursing staff, residents, and facility management.
  • Demonstrate a courteous and respectful attitude toward residents and coworkers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Dietary Manager or Administrator.

Position Summary

The Dietary Cook is responsible for preparing nutritious, appealing, and properly portioned meals for residents in accordance with established menus, dietary requirements, food safety regulations, and facility standards. The Dietary Cook works as part of the dietary team to ensure meals are prepared and served on time while maintaining a clean and sanitary kitchen.
