Job summary

Well-Spring Retirement Community, a Life Plan Community in Greensboro, NC, is seeking a dependable Cook for our Skilled Nursing Dining Services. You\'ll prepare meals from scratch, accommodating mechanical soft and puree textures to ensure nutrition, flavor, and appealing presentation for residents.

The role requires at least 1 year of professional cooking experience, with preference for experience in healthcare dining and modified-texture diets.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of professional cooking experience required.
• Experience with mechanical soft, pureed, or other modified-texture diets strongly preferred.
• Previous experience in skilled nursing, senior living, healthcare dining, or a similar setting preferred.
• Strong understanding of scratch cooking, food preparation, and basic culinary techniques.
• Knowledge of therapeutic diets, food textures, and safe food handling practices.
• Ability to follow recipes, menus, dietary instructions, and portion guidelines.
• Dependable, organized, and able to work in a fast-paced kitchen.

Responsibilities

• Prepare high-quality meals from scratch, including soups, sauces, meats, vegetables, and daily specials.
• Prepare mechanical soft, pureed, and other modified-texture meals according to dietary guidelines.
• Follow physician-ordered diets, standardized recipes, menus, and resident dietary requirements.
• Ensure modified-texture meals have proper texture, flavor, and presentation.
• Maintain food quality, portion control, and presentation.
• Follow food safety, sanitation, and infection control procedures.
• Safely operate and maintain kitchen equipment and keep the area organized.
• Collaborate with Dining Services, nursing, and other team members to meet residents\' nutritional needs.
• Assist with holiday meals, special events, and other dining needs.
