Aztec Shops Ltd. in San Diego, CA seeks an Assistant General Manager to actively manage campus concessions on a day-to-day basis under the General Manager of Concessions. You will direct staff, oversee events and locations, and ensure financial and service standards are met.

Pay Rate: $80,000 - $84,000 annually
This represents the good faith estimate of the annual salary range we reasonably expect to pay for this position upon hire, based on the selected candidate’s experience, education, skills, internal alignment, and overall business needs.
In select cases, and depending on market conditions or exceptional candidate qualifications, compensation may exceed this range, provided it aligns with applicable law and our compensation policies. Under the general direction of the General Manager of Concessions, the Assistant General Manager actively manages campus concessions on a day to day basis. The position is responsible for directing employees, overseeing assigned events and concession locations, maintaining operational and financial standards, and ensuring compliance with company policies and applicable laws and regulations. This position will regularly require work on nights, weekends, and holidays.

The minimum requirement for applicants is a High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) degree and an Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in Food Services Management/Hospitality or Business Administration.
The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of supervisory experience in the high‑volume foodservice industry, preferably in a concessions environment for a sports and entertainment venue. Strong communications, time management, computer literacy, and proven leadership skills are required. Computer savvy and proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace products.
Serve Safe Certified and Management Food Handler Certificate preferred.
This position may involve operating a company vehicle and/or golf cart on university or company property. As such, candidates must have a valid driver’s license and have not been issued more than three moving violations or have been responsible for more than three accidents (or any combination of more than three thereof during the past 12‑month period). Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and will be required to provide proof of driving eligibility upon hire.

Ability to operate a computer, point‑of‑sale system, mobile device, standard office equipment, and foodservice equipment. Ability to reach, grasp, handle, stock, arrange, and distribute food, beverages, merchandise, containers, utensils, supplies, and other products commonly used in concession operations, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Ability to exchange information and communicate effectively with employees, customers, managers, vendors, and other business partners in person, by telephone, in writing, and through electronic or assistive communication methods, with or without reasonable accommodation.
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to communicate; remain stationary for periods of time; move throughout concession and event areas; and use hands and fingers to operate computers, office equipment, and point‑of‑sale systems. The employee may occasionally operate foodservice equipment, including slicers, mixers, knives, ovens, and steamers.
The employee must be able to move, lift, and carry objects or materials weighing up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation. The employee may occasionally be required to change or assist with changing beer kegs weighing up to 100 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation, using appropriate equipment and team‑lifting techniques.
The position requires visual ability sufficient to read, review, and interpret reports, schedules, financial information, and other job‑related documents.

Work is performed in office, foodservice, concession, and event environments. The employee regularly works on‑site at concession locations and event venues to oversee operations, manage events, and conduct inspections. The employee may be exposed to food odors, fumes, airborne particles, hot surfaces, foodservice equipment, cleaning chemicals, dust, allergens, spills, and varying temperatures. The employee may also work outdoors in changing weather conditions. During concerts, sporting events, and other large‑scale events, the employee may be exposed to large crowds, amplified music, crowd noise, announcements, and other moderate to very loud sounds. The work environment may also include bright, flashing, strobing, or rapidly changing lights and visual effects. The noise level is generally moderate on non‑event days and may be loud or very loud on event days. Because the essential duties require direct supervision of employees and an on‑site presence at concession locations and events, this position is not eligible for remote work.
The person holding this position is considered a ‘mandated reporter’ under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act pursuant to California Penal Code Section 11166.5.
Candidates must be available to work a flexible schedule based on operational needs. This may include opening, mid‑day, and closing shifts, as well as night shifts, weekends, and holidays throughout the year.
