Lutheran Social Services (LSS) in Madison, WI is hiring a Maintenance Technician to support four on-site properties. This full-time role covers Madison, Beaver Dam, and Columbus, with four 10-hour days each week and on-call rotations to handle repairs, preventive maintenance, and safety inspections.

You’ll work on plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and general repairs to keep buildings safe and welcoming.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• 2+ years of maintenance or building repair experience.
• Knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry.
• Ability to read blueprints and follow safety procedures.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Willingness to travel between Madison, Beaver Dam, and Columbus.

Responsibilities

• Perform skilled and semi-skilled maintenance work on apartment buildings, offices, and program sites.
• Handle plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and general repairs.
• Conduct preventive maintenance and safety inspections.
• Maintain property appearance, curb appeal, and code compliance.
• Respond to emergency maintenance calls as part of an on-call rotation.
• Collaborate with team members, vendors, and contractors.
• Operate snow removal and grounds maintenance equipment.
• Purchase supplies and materials as needed within budget guidelines.
