Summary: Provides comprehensive evaluative, rehabilitative, preventative and referral services for patients concerned about hearing loss on an inpatient, outpatient, homecare and contract basis. Instructs patients, families and other support personnel in rehabilitative/habilitative measures, monitors patients’ progress and maintains clinical records. At this level, incumbent is expected to function independently. This description covers the essential functions of the position. Incumbent is expected to perform other similar and related duties as assigned. Management has the right to change or add to the job responsibilities at any time. Job Responsibilities:

• Identifies, evaluates, treats and follows up clients on an inpatient, outpatient, homecare, and contract basis as assigned.
• Provides age-appropriate care to patients as assigned. Demonstrated knowledge of developmental stages for the following age groups (infant/child, adolescence, adult and older, geriatrics) and applies developmental theories and concepts when planning and implementing care for patients as appropriate per assignment.
• Evaluates the appropriateness of diagnostic and therapeutic materials and equipment. Contributes to purchasing decisions. Is responsible for condition of materials, equipment, and tests used. Initiates and follows up on necessary action in relation to patients and equipment.
• Determines appropriate plans for patients and recommendations for continued care.
• Counsels clients, families, and others in relation to understanding and assisting in the identification and treatment of hearing impairment.
• Encourages and maintains cooperation with other professionals, agencies, and services.
• Completes necessary documentation to comply with professional standards and department procedures for initial consult/evaluation, SOAP notes, and all care related visits, telephone contacts or other contacts. Writes necessary records and reports for all clients and the department.
• Provides information and consultation to patients, families, care partners and other healthcare personnel involved with patient management in relation to understanding and assisting in the identification and treatment of hearing impairment.
• Participates actively in the departmental team and other teams involved with clients. Participates and shares continuing education experiences.
• Dependent on experience, supervises volunteers, students, and interns. Dependent on experience, assists with on-the-job orientation and training of new staff.
• Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection control policies and protocols.
• Completes departmental operational procedures, including scheduling, billing, equipment usage, time off requests and caseload coverage assignments.
• Demonstrates relevant knowledge and application of clinical skills in evaluation, treatment and counseling.
• Meets productivity expectations as determined by the department standards.
• Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations.
• Conveys information obtained from continuing education programs to team members by developing and conducting in-service training programs.
• Adheres to the ASHA Code of ethics. Follows hospital and departmental policies and professional standards.
• Competence in basic audiological skills: adult and pediatric behavioral diagnostic evaluation adult and pediatric hearing aid services age 3 and up, including selection, verification, fitting, troubleshooting, repair, ear impressions.

Minimally Required Education: Master's Degree Audiology

Preferred Education: Doctorate Audiology

Minimally Required Experience: 0–2 years experience as an audiologist

Skills/Competencies: Entry‑level audiology skills, health promotion, and maintenance, creating a safe effective environment, motivating others, legal compliance, quality focus, bedside manner, clinical skills, persistence, energy level

Certifications: Basic Life Support - American Heart Association; Certified Audiologist - American Speech‑Language‑Hearing Association; Licensed Audiologist - State of Massachusetts

Compensation Note: The compensation range(s) in the table below represent the base salaries for all positions at a given grade across the health system. Typically, a new hire can expect a starting salary somewhere in the lower part of the range. Actual salaries may vary by position and will be determined based on the candidate's relevant experience. No employee will be paid below the minimum of the range. Pay ranges are listed as hourly for non‑exempt employees and based on assumed full‑time commitment for exempt employees. Minimum – Midpoint – Maximum $77,064.00 – $98,196.00 – $104,748.00
