Responsibilities
- Provide best-in-class guest service: promptly greet guests; respond to guest questions/concerns quickly and courteously; assist guests with meeting their video gaming needs; inform guests of special promotions; recommend additional items as appropriate; apply all selling behaviors during every transaction and thank every guest for shopping at GameStop; prioritize guests over tasks and circulate throughout the store.
- Support the total shopping environment, including visual and operational elements, current sales initiatives, and the guest relationships that lead to sales and repeat business.
- Promptly and accurately process guest purchases/return transactions using the Point-of-Sale (POS) system; handle changes, bag merchandise, provide a receipt, and ensure top-notch guest service.
- Respond to guest comments or questions in person or on the phone; answer calls promptly and professionally; escalate customer issues to the Store Manager as appropriate.
- Promote GameStop's guest benefits, including the new title reservations program, trade-in program, and Pro Rewards loyalty program.
- Assist the Store Manager with setting guest service expectations and training store associates on company/store policies, procedures, practices, and guidelines.
- Observe associate performance and provide timely feedback to the Store Manager; address unsatisfactory performance as directed and ensure alignment with company and store guest service expectations.
- Provide recognition and feedback to store associates; regularly input written feedback into the Workday / HR service management system in partnership with the Store Manager.
- With the Store Manager, ensure store associates have completed onboarding, job training, and compliance training prior to opening or closing a shift; ensure associates know all aspects of their jobs and company/store policies, inventory control and loss prevention practices, including scam awareness, safety, financial protocol, and ethical responsibilities.
- Schedule store associates, ensuring adherence to guidelines; account for breaks and meals; supervise staffing to maintain optimum guest service levels.
- Approve payroll, enter paid time off, and verify that associates are paid for time worked.
- Keep store areas clean, organized, and merchandised per guidelines; ensure fixtures and equipment are in proper working order.
- Fulfill Omni-Channel orders and ship daily.
- Protect company assets through inventory control and loss prevention; inspect packages at closing or end of shift as appropriate; communicate concerns to the Store Manager.
- Support the store team in meeting and exceeding sales, profit, and shrink goals and complete required administrative duties.
- Perform store inventory counts, restock merchandise, and move products from the stock room to the sales floor; ensure products are represented, organized, and alphabetized.
- Count, balance, and reconcile daily transaction totals in the POS system; complete closeout paperwork and bank deposits per guidelines.
- Verify shipments for discrepancies; record discrepancies and communicate with the Store Manager/District Manager; conduct inventories as needed.
- Process defectives/recalls and stock pulls promptly; ensure labeling and packing lists are complete.
- Maintain awareness of associate and guest safety; identify and address potentially hazardous situations; report injuries per company guidelines.
- Assist in maintaining store records/files and ensure manuals are up to date.
- Supervise and delegate tasks to Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the Store Manager’s absence.
- Adhere to GameStop policies and procedures, including the Associate Handbook and the Code of Standards, Ethics & Conduct; follow opening and closing procedures.
Qualifications
- Must provide proof of identity and eligibility to legally work in the United States.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in business, marketing, merchandising, or related field preferred.
- At least 6 months of retail management experience preferred.
- At least 2 years of retail sales, guest service, and/or management experience preferred.
- Video game knowledge preferred.

- Be reliable, trustworthy, and exercise good judgment.
- Able to work independently and/or in a team; stand and move throughout the store for extended periods.
- Physical ability to bend, stoop, crouch, reach, climb ladders, and lift merchandise up to 30 lbs from ground level to at least 4 feet.
- Possess or acquire during employment an understanding of military ranks and insignia (applies only to positions in stores located on military bases).
Benefits and Compensation
Benefits: Full-time store positions are eligible to participate in incentive programs, 401(k), paid time off, dental, vision, and health insurance. Positions at GameStop may also be eligible for a bonus and/or other incentives.
Compensation: $10.75 - $14.75 per hour.
