Job summary

MediaNews Group seeks a Staff Accountant to analyze revenue and expense data, prepare variance reports, and support budgeting and projections across the organization. The role involves advanced Excel, Oracle SmartView, and Oracle Cloud EPM for finance reporting and model building.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance/Economics.
• Advanced Excel skills including XLOOKUP, VLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH.
• Strong forecasting, budgeting, variance analysis and financial modeling.

The Staff Accountant analyzes revenue and expense accounts and prepares variance reports while working with the company’s overall operating plans. They are responsible for maintaining finance reporting on all areas of the business and assisting with weekly projections and annual budgets.Although this is a remote role, candidates must reside in CO, FL, IL, MA, MN, OH, OK, PA, or TXAnalyze financial data by collecting, monitoring, and creating financial models for decision support for revenue, expense, and strategic objectivesImprove financial performance by analyzing results; monitoring variances; Identify financial status by comparing and analyzing actual results with plans and forecastsWork with Oracle SmartView and Oracle Cloud EPM financial reportingHave a strong financial analysis foundation creating forecasts and modelsStrong analytical (quantitative as well as qualitative) skills including building modelsDemonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced lookup functions (XLOOKUP, VLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH), conditional logic (IF, IFS, SUMIFS, COUNTIFS), dynamic cell linkingStrong financial modeling experienceHave extensive understanding of financial processes, systems and controls and responsibility for documenting the processesAble to prioritize workload with minimal supervision and manage multiple projectsBachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance/EconomicsPay is based on several factors including but not limited to geographic location, education, work experience, time in role, certifications, etc.
