Job summary

Lab37 Robotics, based in Pittsburgh, is developing robot systems for direct-to-consumer food production. You will work across frontend, backend, cloud, and robot-adjacent interfaces, partnering with product, culinary, operations, and robotics teams to solve complex operational problems with reliable software.

As we scale, you’ll join product and robotics software teams on release, deployment, configuration, and testing of the robot interfaces.

Qualifications

• Experience building REST-based backend services with Go or C++.
• Frontend work using Vue3 or Svelte and TypeScript.
• Experience with AWS services, databases, and messaging.
• Familiarity with Docker, Protobuf, Python, Terraform, and Git.
• Experience in simulated/remove environments and testing.
• Familiarity with SQL, data analysis tools like Superset/Jupyter.

Responsibilities

• Own frontend and backend software for kitchen operation configuration, observation, and management.
• Collaborate with culinary and product teams to translate requirements into technical solutions.
• Integrate with delivery services to receive orders, update status, and sync menus.
• Build and integrate on-robot control panel interfaces.
• Work with firmware, mechanical, electrical, and robotics teams to ensure cohesive systems.
• Contribute to code reviews and architectural decisions.

What you’ll do

You will work across frontend, backend, cloud infrastructure, integrations, and robot-adjacent interfaces. You will partner closely with product, culinary, operations, robotics, firmware and mechanical teams to turn ambiguous operational problems into reliable software.

As we scale up, this team will work closely with our product and robotics software teams to solve exciting problems around release and deployment, configuration, learning management, and refining the robot interface.

Work with a team to both lead and provide feedback on new designs, triage issues, and analyze system performance.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of frontend and backend software for configuring, observing, and managing kitchen operations
• Collaborate with culinary and product teams to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions
• Integrate with delivery service providers to receive orders, provide status updates, and synchronize menus
• Create and integrate with the on-robot control panel interfaces
• Work alongside firmware, mechanical, electrical, and robotics engineers to ensure cohesive system functionality
• Contribute to code reviews and architectural decisions

What we are looking for

• Proficiency in Go or C++ for writing backend services, particularly REST-based
• Proficiency in Vue3 or Svelte (preferred) and TypeScript for writing frontend web applications
• Familiarity with documentation tools (for example wikis, markdown, docs) and writing design documents and playbooks
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical team members
• Prior experience with AWS services, particularly cross-region services, databases, and message queues.
• Experience with Docker, Protobuf, Python, Terraform, and Git.
• Familiarity with remove simulation environments, along with standing up simulated backend services or making use of such services in unit/integration tests (potentially remove)
• Familiarity with SQL, Superset, Jupyter notebooks, and other tools used for analyzing data
• Demand for online food delivery is growing really fast! In the last 5 years, just in the US, the overall market has expanded 10X from $10B to $100B, and could expand to $500bn- $1T by 2030.

This role is based in our Pittsburgh office. As a company driven by invention and continuous change - we are constantly reimagining our industries, building new products, and refining how we operate. We do our best work together. That’s why all of our office-based teams work onsite, five days a week.

The base salary range for this role is $130,000 - $160,000 per year.

Actual compensation will be determined on an individual basis and may vary depending on experience, skills, and qualifications.

Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package. You may also be eligible for equity awards and an annual performance-based bonus.
