Job summary

State Affairs in Washington, DC is seeking a Software Engineering Intern to ship real features end-to-end across the stack, including React/Next.js interfaces, Node APIs, and Postgres data models. You will collaborate with design and product on scoping, prototype AI-assisted tooling, and contribute to fast data workflows, real-time collaboration, and quality-focused code reviews.

Qualifications

• Pursuing Bachelor's or graduate degree in CS/SE or related field.
• Expected graduation Dec 2027 or May 2028.
• Experience building web applications via coursework, internships, research or projects.
• Familiar with React and Node.js; know SQL/Postgres.
• Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Ship vertical product slices from wireframes to deployed features.
• Help build fast data workflows, instant search, and real-time collaboration.
• Collaborate with design and product on scoping and metrics.
• Instrument work with dashboards, logs, and feature flags.
• Participate in code reviews and Storybook-driven UI.
