Job summary

Leidos in Ashburn, VA is seeking a Senior Full Stack Software Developer Team Technical Lead to guide a small on-site team, architect and deliver JAVA full stack applications, and drive AI/GenAI integration.

You will mentor three senior developers, lead PI planning, ensure code quality, and coordinate with government customers on requirements. Candidates should have extensive Java, Spring Boot, microservices, and cloud experience with CI/CD.

Qualifications

Job description

The Homeland Sector within Leidos is seeking a Full Stack Software Developer Team Technical Lead, with strong systems, software, cloud, and Agile experience to support a complex program to provide Agile development. In this role the candidate will support the Passenger Systems Program Directorate (PSPD) within Customs and Border Protection (CBP). In this hands‑on position, you will work collaboratively to architect, design, build, deliver, and enhance highly available, scalable, real‑time systems. You will exercise your judgment in determining and recommending the best designs based on customer business objectives, timelines and other resource constraints. You will participate in and/or direct major deliverables of projects through all aspects of the software development lifecycle including scope and work estimation, architecture and design, coding and unit testing. The team lead will direct an Agile development team to successfully support all design, creation, maintenance, and testing of JAVA full stack applications. This position REQUIRES the candidate to be On-site in Ashburn, VA, minimum 2 days a week.

Primary Responsibilities

• Guide team development efforts towards successful project delivery.
• Directly guide, mentor, and coach a team of three senior developers.
• Develop and integrate AI/GenAI capabilities into enterprise solutions, including AI-powered chatbots, LLM integrations.
• Prompt engineering, API integration.
• Monitor team performance; resolve impediments; develop and implement solutions for driving improvement.
• Lead application architecture, technical design, development, code reviews, integration testing, deployment, and production support across the SDLC.
• Lead Program Increment (PI) Planning from technical aspect.
• Grooming the objectives and providing technical details, work on architecture.
• Lead cross-team collaboration in support of development, testing, and deployment efforts.
• Brief customers on the development progress throughout the PI cycle on program status, including the status of testing, deployment, and release readiness.
• Maintain application posture for code coverage and ensure the CM process defined is working for the team.
• Build the front‑end of applications through appealing visual design and define needs for build APIs.
• Provide technical leadership to cross‑functional development teams, establish coding standards, conduct design/code reviews, and drive engineering best practices.
• Identify and encourage areas for growth and improvement within the team.
• Collaborate with government customers on requirements development.
• Lead technical discussions with architects, product owners, developers and business stakeholders translating into scalable technical solutions.

Basic Qualifications

BA/BS and 12+ years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 10+ years of prior relevant experience OR 4 years of directly related experience in lieu of degree. Minimum of 5 years of Tech lead experience Technical Lead with experience designing and delivering scalable Java Full stack applications using Java, Spring Boot, Rest APIs, microservices, and modern front‑end technologies. Experience working with AI/ML as an integral part of executing the software lifecycle and/or implementing AI/ML solutions to support mission Must have experience in evaluating emerging AI technologies and development tools and identifying opportunities to improve application productivity, automation and operational efficiency. Must have experience in building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Git, Docker, Kubernetes, and automations tools. Must be able to maintain and obtain a CBP Background Investigation prior to start Experience with wireframe software to formulate effective mockups. Must be a self‑starter, strong leader, and can work independently with little supervision. Knowledge of software design patterns. Proficiency with common Agile practices, service‑oriented environments, and better development practices. Experience with Jira, Confluence.

Preferred Qualifications

• Hands on experience with Gemini Enterprise AI Platform
• Experience integrating Google cloud/AWS AI services and APIs with enterprise applications.
• Active DOD Top Secret or DHS CBP BI Solid experience as a full stack Java developer.
• AWS, Microservices, User experience , containerization, CI/CD Experience in AWS App Development Hands on data reporting, through web/html or Power BI platforms
