Job summary

Schwab Technology Services is seeking a Software Engineer to build and enhance the Billing and Invoicing capabilities across Schwab’s products. You will work with Java/Spring Boot in an Agile Scrum environment, mentoring teammates and delivering secure, scalable solutions that process billions in revenue.

You’ll collaborate with Product Owners and stakeholders, participate in production support, and contribute to a modern tech stack including cloud-ready architectures and automated testing.

Qualifications

6+ years of experience developing large scale software solutions using Java, Spring and Spring Boot framework.
5+ years’ experience implementing automated tests and working with high-volume REST APIs.
3+ years’ experience with messaging systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ) and authentication protocols (OAuth, SAML).

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and deliver solutions as part of an Agile Scrum team.
Mentor and coach junior team members.
Support production issues and ensure resilient, secure systems.
Collaborate with Product Owners to define strategy and scope.
Deliver new features and concepts with quality through automated testing.

We are looking for a dynamic Software Engineer that will build and enhance our tech stack supporting the Billing and Invoicing capabilities across Schwab’s products and services. This role will immerse themselves in our tech stack (Java / Spring Boot) while harnessing GitHub CoPilot to drive “forward thinking” approaches to building software. Our Billing Solutions Technology team oversees a best-in-class suite of applications comprised of SaaS and in-house developed applications supporting the diverse billing needs of the Schwab products and services provided to our clients. Our technology consists of internal user interfaces, system integrations, data aggregation, complex fee calculation logic, and reporting capabilities that processes Billions of dollars in revenue for Schwab. You’ll be responsible for delivering high quality solutions that support Managed Investing product launches in a flexible, collaborative and rapidly changing delivery environment. Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and deliver solutions as part of an Agile Scrum team.

Leverage understanding of software development principles and practices to help mentor and coach junior team members.

Support and triage issues and participate in production support to help develop resilient and secure systems to prevent issues that impact on our clients.

Collaborate with product owners and business stakeholders to define strategy and scope of software requirements (decompose stories, design features, and prioritize tasks)

Delivering new concepts and features, working alongside development peers in an agile environment

Utilize automated software test tools and frameworks such as test-driven development to achieve the highest quality in software deliver

Drive the low-level design of software components and libraries used to implement business use cases

Participate in migrating software product releases into the Production environment.

Proactively identify risks, establish mitigation plans, and maintain documentation and code quality standards.

What you have

Required Qualifications

6+ years of experience developing large scale software solutions using: Java, Spring and spring boot framework, Spring Cloud Dataflow and other cloud frameworks,

and REST API’s supporting high volume transactions in a highly available environment.

5+ years’ experience implementing automated unit tests, acceptance tests and integration tests following industry best practices.

5+ years’ experience working with databases like MongoDB, Aerospike, and/or PostgreSQL/DB2.

3+ years’ experience building messaging applications using messaging technologies (Rabbit MQ, Kafka, or equivalent).

3+ years of experience with authentication protocols like OAuth and SAML.

3+ years of experience in authoring and maintaining integration layers with vendor systems.

Demonstrated knowledge of Agile methodology and experience in an Agile working environment.

Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills with the demonstrable ability to communicate effectively at all levels.

Demonstrated ability in solution discovery and crafting a design based in engineering principles.

Track record of pursuing and maintaining high quality while delivering on tight schedules.

Collaborative mindset coupled with a bias for action to effectively engage with all areas of the business including Product Management, Architects, SRE, and adjacent teams, etc.

Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.

Ability to effectively engage subject matter experts and understand technical topics.

Demonstrated ability to discuss conflicting viewpoints, argue your case with data, and commit to delivery regardless of the selected direction.

Ability to analyze and solve problems creatively.

Track record of mentoring and coaching resulting in a stronger organization.

Positive attitude, enthusiasm, professionalism and strong work ethic with high level of integrity.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, related degree, OR related practical experience.

5+ years of experience in cloud deployment in a continuous integration, and continuous delivery model (CI/CD), technologies like GitHub, Bamboo, GitLab, and Launch Darkly.

3+ years of experience with cloud platforms such as Pivotal Cloud Foundry (PCF), AWS, or GCP.

2+ years Prior experience in IT Transformations and system modernization initiatives from legacy to distributed platforms, i.e., Mainframe Cobol apps/DB2 to Java apps/SQL

Experience implementing batch application using Spring framework using control-m scheduler.

Experience in JavaScript frameworks like Angular JS

Proficient in developing Visio diagrams, architectural and design documentations, functional and technical specifications, automated test processes.

Willingness to learn all aspects of tech stack and document.

Ability to research and document production and test environments along with architecture and design work.

Experience with the Atlassian tool stack (JIRA and Confluence)
