Job summary

Terra AI is building a team to productionize internal modeling tools used for subsurface outputs. You will extend software around scientific workflows to be robust, maintainable, and easy to run, inspect, and extend.

This role bridges product-quality engineering with scientific computing. The team supports geophysics and reservoir simulation, with core work on Python and Julia, APIs, and reproducible execution patterns.

Qualifications

• Strong software engineering fundamentals and ownership of complex codebases.
• Production-grade Python skills.
• Comfort with Julia or willingness to learn quickly.
• Experience designing APIs, managing config, and reliable execution paths.
• Familiarity with performance profiling and optimization tooling.
• Experience with ML frameworks at integration level (PyTorch preferred).
• Experience with orchestration/workflow tooling (Flyte, Prefect, Dagster) or in-house patterns.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with domain experts to translate requirements into correct, usable software.
• Own and improve internal modeling stacks with refactoring and modularization.
• Implement testing strategies suitable for scientific software.
• Design and implement APIs and interfaces for maintainable components.
• Build configuration management patterns for reproducible runs.
• Maintain orchestration pipelines for simulation ensembles and data validation.
• Work in Python and Julia; integrate ML artifacts without inventing new ML methods.
