Full Stack Engineer
Role Overview
Join a fast-growing, bootstrapped consumer technology company building products designed to improve everyday life at home. With a lean team, an established eCommerce business, and an ambitious product roadmap, the company is entering a new stage of growth and investing in dedicated engineering for the first time.
As the Full Stack Engineer, you'll take broad ownership of the software powering both the customer experience and internal business systems. You'll inherit a mature, production-ready headless commerce environment while having significant freedom to shape what comes next—from conversion-focused storefront experiences and new product launches to conversational AI, internal automation, and customer intelligence tools.
This is an ideal opportunity for an engineer who enjoys moving quickly, making technical decisions, and seeing the direct impact of what they build. You'll work closely with eCommerce, Growth, Creative, Customer Experience, and company leadership while becoming a foundational technical contributor as the engineering function grows.
Location: Hybrid – Los Angeles, CA area (Tuesday–Thursday onsite; Monday & Friday remote)
Key Responsibilities
- Own and evolve a headless eCommerce storefront built with Shopify Hydrogen, React, and TypeScript, with a focus on conversion, performance, and a seamless purchase experience.
- Build and enhance Next.js applications supporting customer-facing experiences and internal business workflows.
- Execute an established roadmap of A/B tests and conversion rate optimization initiatives, translating insights into measurable improvements.
- Architect and ship customer-facing AI experiences, including conversational product recommendations powered by LLM APIs, retrieval systems, and vector databases.
- Develop systems that transform qualitative customer feedback—including support interactions, reviews, and social feedback—into actionable insights.
- Build internal tools and AI-powered workflows that improve efficiency across operations, customer experience, and growth.
- Own integrations throughout the eCommerce ecosystem, including APIs, webhooks, and data flows between third-party platforms.
- Partner closely with eCommerce, Growth, Lifecycle, Creative, UX/UI, and Customer Experience teams to turn business priorities into production software.
- Make thoughtful architectural decisions as new products and customer experiences are introduced.
- Help establish the technical foundation, development practices, and modern tooling that can support a growing engineering organization.
Education & Qualifications
- 3+ years of hands-on full-stack software engineering experience within eCommerce environments.
- Strong production experience with React, Next.js, and TypeScript.
- Hands-on experience with Shopify Hydrogen/Oxygen or comparable headless Shopify architecture; demonstrated proficiency is more important than a specific number of years with Hydrogen.
- Strong understanding of the Shopify ecosystem, including storefront architecture, APIs, integrations, and data flows.
- Experience implementing A/B testing and conversion rate optimization (CRO) initiatives.
- Experience integrating AI/LLM APIs into production applications.
- Working knowledge of RAG, embeddings, retrieval systems, and vector databases, with the ability to make sound implementation and optimization decisions.
- Active use of AI-assisted development tools as part of a real production engineering workflow.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly explain technical decisions and trade-offs to non-engineering stakeholders.
- Ability to operate autonomously, prioritize effectively, and unblock yourself in a fast-moving environment with limited process.
- High EQ, low ego, accountability, and a collaborative approach to solving problems.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field preferred, or equivalent practical experience.
Preferred Experience
- Experience working for a DTC, consumer, or eCommerce brand.
- Previous startup or early-stage company experience.

- Experience with eCommerce APIs, webhooks, lifecycle marketing platforms, and customer support integrations.
- Familiarity with infrastructure and deployment platforms used in modern headless commerce environments.
