Job summary

Black Canyon Consulting (BCC) is seeking a Full Stack Developer to contribute to CMS-driven, accessible public web platforms using Wagtail, Django/Python, React, Next.js, GraphQL APIs and the NCBI Web Design System. You will join NCBI’s team of web developers to build robust APIs, services and multisite web applications.

The candidate should have 3+ years of full‑stack experience with Django, React, and Next.js, plus strong knowledge of Wagtail, GraphQL, REST, and accessibility standards.

Qualifications

• BS in Computer Science.
• 3+ years of full-stack web development using Django, React, and Next.js.
• Experience with Wagtail CMS, Django, and Python.
• Experience with React, Next.js, JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML, CSS.
• Experience with GraphQL APIs, REST APIs, and headless CMS integration.
• Understanding of Wagtail content modeling, StreamField, multisite setup.
• Experience implementing components from a Web Design System or component library.
• Strong accessibility knowledge (Section 508, WCAG).
• Familiarity with PostgreSQL, Git, CI/CD, testing, and modern dev workflows.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Wagtail CMS features using Django and Python.
• Build responsive front-end interfaces with React, Next.js, JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML, CSS.
• Support adoption of Wagtail CMS at NCBI following architecture and best practices.
• Integrate front-end apps with headless CMS APIs (GraphQL and REST).
• Collaborate with UX, content, backend, DevOps, product and stakeholders.
• Optimize websites for accessibility, performance, SEO, and maintainability.
• Participate in reviews, testing, documentation, release planning, and production support.
