Job summary

SMBC Group in Charlotte, NC is seeking a skilled software engineer to design, build, and support risk-analysis applications using Python and React on Azure. You will develop full-stack solutions, APIs, and backend services deployed on Microsoft Azure, with a focus on reliability and scalability.

The role requires 4+ years of Python development, a Bachelor's in CS or equivalent, and hands-on experience with Django/Flask/FastAPI, SQL, and Azure services.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional software development with Python.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• Back-end: Django, Flask, or FastAPI experience.
• Data: SQL queries and data analysis tasks.
• Cloud / Infrastructure: Microsoft Azure services including App Service, Functions, Containers, Storage.
• DevOps: CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps.
• Tools: GitHub, VS Code, and modern development environments.
• Communication: Strong written and verbal communication across teams.
• Nice to have: Azure Databricks (PySpark, Delta Lake), risk management knowledge, observability with OpenTelemetry, AI tools in development processes.

JOB SUMMARY

You will design, build, and support applications that drive risk analysis and decision-making. In this role, you develop full-stack solutions using Python and React, deployed on Azure. Your work turns business needs into reliable, production-ready systems. You also help improve system reliability, shape technical direction, and support the growth of others on the team.

Build and maintain scalable web applications using Python frameworks such as Django and front-end tools like React

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS

Experience: 4+ years of professional software development with Python

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience

Back-end: Hands-on experience building applications with Python frameworks such as Django, Flask, or FastAPI

Data: Experience writing SQL queries and performing data analysis tasks

Cloud / Infrastructure: Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure services, including App Service, Functions, Containers, and Storage

DevOps: Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps

Tools: Experience using GitHub, VS Code, and modern development environments

Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to document decisions and collaborate across teams

NICE TO HAVE

• Data: Experience with Azure Databricks, including PySpark, Delta Lake, and data workflows
• Domain: Knowledge of risk management or financial services
• Observability: Familiarity with monitoring and tracing practices such as OpenTelemetry
• AI: Experience using AI tools in the development process
