Job summary

IBM Consulting in the United States is seeking a Data Engineer / Full Stack Developer to deliver secure, scalable web-based knowledge repositories across client domains. You will build and modernize apps using AWS Cloud and OpenShift, ensuring data reliability and performance for mission data.

Primary responsibilities include designing data pipelines, APIs, and back-end services; supporting data migrations and quality control; and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Must have TS/SCI and be willing to submit to a government CI polygraph.
• Optimize application services, queries, data workflows, and deployments.
• Develop and maintain technical docs for data flows, APIs, and deployments.
• Support security coordination, access controls, and vulnerability remediation.
• Occasional after-hours work for deployments and migrations.
• Experience with AWS and OpenShift environments.

Your role and responsibilities

As a Data Engineer / Full Stack Developer, you will work closely with O&M, development, product, design, and client teams to maintain, enhance, and deliver secure web-based knowledge repository capabilities across client domains. The role requires experience developing and supporting full stack applications, designing and managing data pipelines, integrating data from multiple sources, and ensuring information is accessible, reliable, and mission ready. You will help build, modernize, and sustain applications using AWS Cloud, OpenShift, and related technologies while supporting secure deployment, system performance, data quality, and continuous improvement. You can assist clients in making informed technical decisions and quickly deliver value. We will consider candidates that reside in the St. Louis, MO area for this role.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

• Perform root cause analysis for system, application, data pipeline, and end-user issues
• Analyze application, database, and system performance and take corrective actions as needed
• Assist Tier 2 support teams with resolving complex system, application, data, and end-user problems
• Develop, maintain, and optimize data pipelines, data integrations, APIs, and backend services to support reliable access to mission data
• Support data migration, transformation, validation, and quality control activities across AWS, OpenShift, and related environments
• Manage, configure, and support application
• Monitor system, application, database, and data pipeline health to ensure performance, availability, and reliability

Required technical and professional expertise

• Must have TS/SCI and be willing to submit to a government CI polygraph
• Optimize application services, database queries, data workflows, and deployment configurations to improve performance and efficiency
• Develop and maintain technical documentation related to application design, data flows, APIs, system configurations, deployment processes, and operational procedures
• Support system security coordination, including secure development practices, access controls, vulnerability remediation, and compliance with client security requirements
• Support occasional after-hours and weekend work for operational issue resolution, production deployments, data migrations, and maintenance windows
• Knowledge of application development, application deployment, data migration, and data integration within AWS and OpenShift environments
• Ability to design, develop, and operate highly available applications and data services across availability zones and regions
• Strong understanding of computer technology with the ability to quickly learn related concepts, tools, frameworks, and software products
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Self-starter with the ability to work both independently and with a team
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills
• Other duties as assigned

Preferred technical and professional experience

• Experience supporting data quality, data validation, metadata management, and data governance practices
• Experience with search, indexing, content management, knowledge management, or enterprise data discovery platforms
• Familiarity with secure software development practices, vulnerability remediation, access control, and compliance requirements in federal or classified environments
• Familiarity with Agile, Scrum, SAFe, or other iterative development methodologies
• Good oral and written communications skills with experience in delivering to a Government customer
• Experience serving in an "on-call" role supporting emergency response to application or system issues on occasion

Years of Experience: 3-5 years’ experience in Data Engineering or Full Stack Development.
