Job summary

TOAST is seeking a capable Full Stack Developer with DevSecOps and platform experience to build, deploy, and maintain modern applications across diverse projects. You will own work end-to-end—from frontend to cloud deployments, CI/CD pipelines, and platform reliability.

You’ll collaborate with engineering, product, and creative teams on healthcare, pharma congress experiences, mobile apps, immersive VR training, and web platforms, bringing concepts to life with a security-minded mindset.

Qualifications

• Node.js backend development with REST APIs and containerized runtimes.
• Hands-on production experience with AWS or Azure.
• Experience with CI/CD systems (GitHub Actions preferred).
• Experience with Docker and containerized workflows.
• Strong Git workflows and SDLC practices.
• Ability to work independently across multiple active projects.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain full stack applications across web services, APIs, and frontend systems.
• Build and maintain backend services and cloud infrastructure on AWS and Azure.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and release workflows using GitHub Actions.
• Work with infrastructure-as-code tooling to provision cloud resources.
• Support platform reliability through logging, monitoring, and runbooks.
• Apply security baseline practices including dependency scanning and IAM scoping.
• Collaborate with engineers to streamline development, testing, and deployment.
• Contribute to architecture discussions and engineering standards.
• Troubleshoot production issues and improve operational workflows.
• Engage across projects including web platforms, APIs, mobile apps, and immersive experiences.
• Document architecture notes, runbooks, and handovers.

We Want

We’re looking for a highly capable Full Stack Developer with DevSecOps & Platform experience to help build, deploy, and maintain modern applications across a varied and interesting project portfolio. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys owning work end-to-end, from frontend and backend development to cloud deployments, CI/CD pipelines, and platform reliability.

You’ll work closely with engineering, product, and creative teams across multiple active client engagements, including pharmaceutical congress experiences, health mobile apps, immersive VR training applications, and experiential onsite activations, alongside web platforms, APIs.You’ll also collaborate closely with the wider project team, including creatives, UX designers, 3D artists, and producers, to bring this work to life.

Your Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain full stack applications across web services, APIs, and frontend systems.
• Build and maintain backend services and cloud infrastructure on AWS and Azure.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and release workflows using GitHub Actions.
• Work with infrastructure-as-code tooling (AWS CDK, Pulumi) to provision and manage cloud resources.
• Support platform reliability through logging, monitoring, and operational run-book contributions.
• Apply security baseline practices: dependency scanning, SAST integration, secrets hygiene, and IAM scoping.
• Collaborate with engineers to streamline local development, testing, and deployment processes.
• Contribute to technical architecture discussions and engineering standards.
• Help troubleshoot production issues and improve operational workflows.
• Work across a variety of projects including web platforms, APIs, mobile applications, immersive experiences, and interactive applications.
• Contribute to technical documentation, including architecture notes, runbooks, and handover materials.
• Follow, and work on establishing, security and development standards across projects.

Required Skills & Experience:

Node.js backend development — REST APIs, middleware, serverless and containerized runtimes.

• Hands-on experience with AWS or Azure in a production context.
• Experience with CI/CD systems — GitHub Actions preferred.
• Experience with Docker and containerized application workflows.
• Strong understanding of Git workflows and software development lifecycle practices.
• Ability to work independently and manage context across multiple active projects.

Nice To Have:

• Experience with both AWS and Azure, not just one.
• AWS CDK or Pulumi for infrastructure-as-code.
• MongoDB-compatible databases such as DocumentDB or Cosmos DB.
• Expo and React Native for mobile development.
• Experience implementing backend APIs for XR, immersive, gaming, or interactive applications.
• Familiarity with DevSecOps tooling: CodeQL, Dependabot, Gitleaks, or similar.
• Experience working in startup or fast-scaling environments.

Compensation

This is a full-time role based in the United States, with flexibility for hybrid working. Compensation is competitive and aligned to Mid Level Engineering experience.
