Job summary

Charles Schwab Corporation is seeking a Software Development Engineer to design, develop, and maintain modern web applications and services for high-volume trading across Schwab’s digital ecosystem.

You will collaborate with product owners, designers, and agile teams to deliver scalable solutions, improve engineering practices, and leverage AI-assisted tools to enhance code quality and productivity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of software development experience building enterprise web applications.
• Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript/C# and SPA frameworks.
• Experience with Angular, StencilJS, HTML5, XML and modern frontend frameworks.
• Knowledge of REST APIs, OOD, and relational DB concepts.
• Experience with automated testing (Jest, NUnit).
• Familiarity with Agile delivery and DevOps practices.

Schwab’s Trading Technology organization delivers the platforms and experiences that help clients make informed investment decisions with confidence. As a Software Development Engineer, you will play a key role in building and enhancing trading capabilities across Schwab’s digital ecosystem, supporting high-volume, real-time trading experiences used by clients across the firm.

In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain modern front-end applications and back-end services while partnering closely with product owners, designers, architects, and agile teams to deliver scalable solutions. Success requires strong technical expertise, collaborative problem-solving, and the ability to adapt to evolving business and technology needs. You will contribute to the development of innovative trading tools, improve engineering practices, support accessibility standards, and leverage emerging technologies, including AI-assisted development tools, to deliver high-quality software that creates meaningful impact for our clients and business.

What you have

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of software development experience building enterprise web applications.
• Hands‑on experience with JavaScript, TypeScript, and C#.
• Experience developing complex web components and Single Page Applications (SPA).
• Experience with Angular, StencilJS, HTML5, XML, and modern front‑end development frameworks.
• Experience supporting electronic trading workflows, including equities, options, mutual funds, advanced orders, and complex options strategies.
• Experience integrating and consuming real-time streaming market data.
• Experience writing automated unit tests using tools such as Jest and NUnit.
• Working knowledge of REST‑based APIs, object‑oriented design principles, and relational database concepts.
• Experience working in Agile delivery environments.
• Knowledge of CI/CD practices and DevOps methodologies.
• Experience with source control and build automation tools such as Git, Jenkins, and Bamboo.
• Experience performing accessibility testing using tools such as AXE Pro and JAWS.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and business teams.
• Experience using AI‑enabled development tools such as GitHub Copilot or similar solutions to improve code quality and productivity.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience deploying and supporting applications in Pivotal Cloud Foundry.
• Experience with container technologies such as Kubernetes or OpenShift.
• Experience with public cloud platforms including AWS (Amazon Web Services) or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Experience supporting cloud migration initiatives.
• Knowledge of messaging technologies such as IBM MQ, Solace MQ, MSMQ, or RabbitMQ.
• Experience working in large-scale, highly regulated enterprise environments.
• Exposure to modern software architecture patterns and distributed systems.
