Job summary

Campana & Schott Inc. in New York City is seeking a full-time Application Developer to join a small, fast-moving team. You will build features from API to UI, harden our data-readiness platform, and translate FAIR/semantic concepts into working product.

The role involves working with AI-assisted tooling (Claude) and promoting enterprise deployments with robust security and compliance. Salary ranges from $84,000 to $96,000 with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of application development experience, ideally full-stack
• Anthropic Claude certification at the Architect level
• Working understanding of what a knowledge engineer does, and fluency with semantic layers and ontologies, such as RDF, OWL, taxonomies, and knowledge graphs
• Proficiency across front-end and back-end work in a modern JavaScript/TypeScript stack
• Strong fundamentals in data modeling and relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL
• Comfort working independently in a fast-moving, early-stage environment

Responsibilities

• Build full-stack features across a TypeScript / Express / React / PostgreSQL codebase — from API and data model through to UI
• Develop assessment logic that translates FAIR principles, semantic layers, and ontologies into scoring, validation, and remediation features
• Work with AI-assisted tooling, including Claude Code, as a core part of the development workflow, and help shape how we use it
• Harden the platform for enterprise use — security, audit trails, regulated-industry compliance, and on-premise/private-cloud deployment
• Integrate external systems such as data lakehouses, catalogs, and knowledge-graph stores
• Write clean, tested, maintainable code — strong typing, real test coverage, no stubs or placeholders
• Partner with the founder on roadmap, architecture, and technical trade-offs
