Job summary

Pratum Co-op seeks a CDL A HazMat/Tanker driver to transport bulk liquid fuels from Portland/Vancouver distribution points to fueling centers and customer sites. You will perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections, follow DOT safety rules, and maintain delivery paperwork with accuracy.

Ideal candidates hold a High School Diploma or equivalent, a clean driving record, and the required endorsements. Expect 45–60 hours weekly, with peak-season peaks, and a safety-first, team-focused work

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; CDL Class A with HazMat and Tanker endorsements preferred.
  • Clean driving record and ability to obtain HazMat/Tanker endorsements as required.
  • Familiarity with shipping papers, hazardous materials labels, and safety protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Operate semi-truck and trailer hauling hazardous liquid materials over-the-road.
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections and report problems.
  • Follow safety protocols (in-house and DOT).
  • Communicate with customers on delivery schedules and routes.
  • Plan efficient delivery routes and maintain daily paperwork.
  • Ensure proper loading/unloading of trucks and compliance with PPE.

Job description

The purpose of this job is to transport bulk liquid fuel products from the rack fuel distribution point in Portland/Vancouver and deliver that product to fueling centers, bulk tanks, and customer locations, while fulfilling Pratum’s mission is to be an agricultural cooperative dedicated to innovative solutions, excellent service, and long-term relationships.The following are general tasks and responsibilities related to this position, but the position may require other duties and special projects as assigned by management.Tasks and ResponsibilitiesResponsibly and safely operate semi-truck and trailer hauling hazardous liquid materials over-the-road.Execute daily goals, plans and direction given by the dispatcherConduct all pre-trip, post trip and other regularly required equipment inspections, reporting any problems or potential problems as required.Immediately report any truck problems to the manager to avoid potential hazards or breakdowns.Ensure all safety protocols are followed (in-house and DOT).Communicate with and assist customers on the schedule of scheduled deliveries.Ensure trucks are loaded and unloaded properly.Plan and follow efficient delivery routes.Organize, manage and complete daily delivery paperwork/digital data uploadsResponsible for ensuring all legally required safety measures are properly implemented during operations, including but not limited to the proper installation of tire chains, use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and adherence to road safety protocols.Other duties as assignedExpectationsComply with federal, state, and company policies, procedures, and regulations, also maintainingfamiliarity with the employee handbookFunction in a way that fulfills Pratum’s Values:Integrity: always doing the right thingSafety: committed to a safe environment for our employees and customersProfessionalism: dealing with all relationships in a courteous and respectful manner with a positive image, timelinessResults Oriented: delivering on your promisesTeamwork: respecting one another with humility, working with the ag management teamStewardship: careful and responsible management of our resources and environmentCustomer Service: exceeding expectations of those we serveTimely communication in response to dispatch and managementMaintain current class A CDL, and must have or be willing to obtain HazMat, and Tanker endorsement, and be prepared to be carded at all loading racks in PortlandClean and professional appearanceAbility to work 45 to 60 hours per week and, at times, 70 hours per week during peak summer seasonsMotivated self-starterAttention to detailExpect to work Monday through Friday, with a rotating Saturday ScheduleQualifications and Education RequirementsHigh School Diploma or equivalentClass A CDL required with HazMat and Tanker certificationHistory of timeliness and good attendanceBasic mechanical ability to inspect and service equipment as directedPhysical ability requirements:Ability to drive at night with limited visibilityAbility to physically navigate a semi-truck and trailer for operation and inspectionMust be able to work in a variety of weather conditions, including rain, snow, extreme heat, and cold.Ability to read English and follow written and verbal instructions, read maps, shipping papers, hazardous material labels, emergency instructions and general business informationPreferred SkillsBasic computer, mobile phone skillsBasic math and good reading skillsGood communication skills and the ability to take individual initiative to resolve issues
