Job summary

Wilcox + Flegel is seeking a dedicated Fuel Tank Wagon Driver for local routes. You’ll be the face of the company delivering bulk fuels to customer locations with a focus on safety, reliability, and positive customer interactions.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Class A CDL with Haz-Mat and Tanker endorsements and TWIC required.
  • Prefer two years of hazmat hauling.

Responsibilities

  • Transports loads to destinations on required routes while following safety rules.
  • Chocks rear wheels before unloading and remove chocks after delivery.
  • Complete and transmit all paperwork per company procedures.
  • Maintain vehicle cleanliness and replace gaskets/nozzles as needed.
  • Perform safety inspections on trucks and equipment.
  • Check oil, water, fuel, tires, and tank-related items daily.
  • Report equipment issues to Dispatcher.

As a Fuel Tank Wagon Driverfor Wilcox + Flegel, you will make deliveries of bulk fuel products to customer locations. You will be the face of our organization to many of our valued customers and a critical piece of our mission of “Creating Lasting Partnerships with our Customers and Communities.”

Essential Position Functions and Responsibilities:
  • Transports load over required route to proper destination, observing all traffic laws and safety regulations.

  • Chocks rear wheels of truck and trailer before any unloading takes place.

  • Removes chocks before driving away from delivery.

  • Completes and transmits all paperwork in compliance with established Wilcox and Flegel Company procedures.

  • Maintains vehicle cleanliness and replaces gaskets, nozzles and other related articles as necessary.

  • Performs safety inspections on trucks, equipment and/or facilities as required by Wilcox and Flegel Company policy.

  • Maintains miscellaneous service duties such as checking, on a daily basis, oil, water, fuel, tires and tank related items.

  • Reports any equipment malfunctions and/or concerns to Dispatcher.

Critical Core Competencies and Skills:
  • Knowledge of and the ability to use loading arms and card readers at rack facilities, use auxiliary pumps for loading and unloading of vehicle and use spill kits and fire extinguisher.

  • Must be able to drive at night with limited visibility.

  • Must be able to climb in and out of Fuel Tank Wagon, operate gear shift and brake & gas petals.

  • Must be able to climb on various pieces of equipment to reach fuel tank access.

  • Local driving.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills as well as verbal and written communication skill.

  • Must be highly organized with strong ability to multi-task.

  • Able to assess competing demands and determine appropriate direction.

  • Proven ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing environment; agile, flexible and resilient.

Minimum Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Must have Class A CDL with Haz-Mat and Tanker endorsements and TWIC

Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Prefer two years of experience hauling hazardous materials.

  • Must have Class A CDL
