Job summary

Menzies Aviation LATAM is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to perform maintenance and inspections on fuel system components at CLT FUEL facilities. The role requires hands-on electrical and mechanical troubleshooting, safety compliance, and the ability to work with minimal supervision on complex systems such as hydrant fuel networks.

You will collaborate with maintenance and facility managers, handle tools, complete work orders, and maintain detailed records in a fast-paced aviation

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; trade certification a plus.
• Experience with electrical troubleshooting and mechanical repairs in industrial or aviation environments.
• Familiarity with PLCs, control systems, and electrical/electronic components is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and inspections on fuel system components and related equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical issues; diagnose problems and implement repairs.
• Maintain safety and regulatory compliance with FAA, local, and company policies.
• Complete work orders, maintain accurate maintenance records and inventories.
• Coordinate with facility managers and external contractors as needed.
• Operate and handle tools safely and with proper PPE.

Role Purpose

Under the daily supervision of the Maintenance Manager and assistance as needed from the Facility Manager, performs periodic maintenance and inspections on filters, pumps, valves, tanks, pressure controls, metering and gauging equipment, and company vehicles. Troubleshoots and repairs the aforementioned equipment, as well as pipeline issues, electrical equipment, motors, switch gear, and lighting. Ensures that all assigned work is completed in a timely fashion with quality workmanship and that service and materials meet or exceed the quality standards set forth. Contributes to an efficient operation while projecting a professional image for Menzies Aviation.

What You Will Be Doing

• Understand CLT FUEL’s established guidelines and procedures to ensure compliance.
• Apply basic mechanical, planning, and troubleshooting skills to keep the CLT FUEL system in good mechanical operation.
• Accurately complete routine functions to avoid fuel spills or fuel farm related events, maintaining high work ethics.
• Understand aviation‑environment equipment such as hydrant fuel systems and associated mechanical functions.
• Diagnose mechanical problems and correct issues that can be resolved in‑house.
• Work in proximity with other employees and may be in direct contact with airline management personnel.
• Maintain good working relationships with co‑workers and the public, exercising good judgment in job responsibilities.
• Represent contact mainly with oil companies, airlines, in‑plane fueling agents, and the CLT FUEL Membership, projecting a professional image for Menzies Aviation.
• Consult with the Maintenance Manager and Facility Manager regarding unusual situations; the managers are always available and on call. Direct supervision of others is not required.
• Demonstrate dedication to providing high‑quality service to all customers, fulfilling duties in accordance with established airline government regulations.
• Adhere to local, state, and federal safety policies, and company rules and regulations.
• Maintain a complete set of assigned hand tools to perform maintenance tasks.
• Be physically capable of performing tasks on above‑ground storage tanks.
• Operate a dual‑wheel rear‑axle truck, equipped with a stick shift and side mirrors.
• Complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
• Possess working knowledge of fuel systems to troubleshoot and complete assignments safely and efficiently.
• Perform daily, weekly, and monthly checks as required by the Maintenance Department per ATA Specification 103 and local instructions.
• Ensure work orders are completed in detail and maintain accurate inventory and facility maintenance records.
• Possess good communication and problem‑solving skills.
• Assist on special projects, pursue career development, attend training seminars, and coordinate with external parties such as contractors, engineers, and project support.
• All other duties as assigned.

What We Are Looking For

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• High school graduate with at least three years of experience and training in mechanical and electrical troubleshooting/repair.
• Experience with industrial process controls, communication, and automation, especially those used in the petroleum industry.
• Electrical experience required; PLC, computer, and electronics experience are a plus.
• Proficiency in arithmetic, including conversions across units.
• Capability to follow detailed written or oral instructions and apply common sense.
• Valid driver’s license, with maintenance of this license considered essential.
• Ability to comply with local airport, FAA, and/or U.S. Customs safety and security requirements and pass a thorough security background check.
• Comfortable with heights and able to perform tasks on above‑ground storage tanks.
• Ability to complete tasks with minimal supervision.
• Acceptance of pre‑employment drug screening and random on‑site testing for all employees.
• Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English.
• Capable of lifting 70 lbs repetitively and working in all weather conditions.
• Available and flexible for variable shifts, including weekends and holidays.
• Responsibility to report significant deficiencies in products, materials, and documents.
• Duty to suggest improvements to working practices, especially those related to safety and security.
