Job summary

Motive Companies, LLC is seeking a dependable FTTH Drop Technician for outdoor fiber installation in Oceanside, CA. You will install, test, and troubleshoot drop cables, working with standard field equipment and safely coordinating with customers.

Responsibilities include fiber splicing, site surveys, maintaining records, and on-call rotations. A high school diploma and 1+ year in telecom or fiber optics are preferred; OSHA/FOA certifications are a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1+ year in telecom, fiber optics, or related field preferred.
• Knowledge of FTTH network architecture and fiber installation practices.
• Experience with fiber testing equipment (OTDRs, power meters).
• Ability to read construction prints, maps, and diagrams.

Responsibilities

• Install underground fiber optic drop cables from access points to customer locations.
• Perform fiber splicing, termination, testing and troubleshooting as needed.
• Conduct site surveys to determine safe installation paths.
• Install and secure drop cables using standard methods and equipment.
• Complete fiber testing with power meters and fault locators.
• Troubleshoot service issues and perform repairs to restore connectivity.
• Maintain records of installations and service activities.
• Communicate installation procedures and expectations to customers.
