Tony's Fresh Market in Illinois is seeking a Pastry Decorator to support the bakery team. You will prepare and assemble baked goods, decorate cakes, and ensure freshness while delivering friendly service.

The role requires attention to detail, ability to follow recipes, and reliability in a fast-paced store. Paid hourly with a 15.40-19.75 range, benefits include medical, dental, vision, 401k and employee discounts.

Qualifications

• Must have valid Food Handlers Card.
• Customer service, pastry decorating, and retail experience desirable.

Responsibilities

• Greet and interact with customers in a friendly, service-oriented manner.
• Assist Pastry team with preparing desserts and pastries as needed.
• Take cake orders, ensure fresh fruits and products, and maintain a fully stocked display case.
• Support team with baking breads, cookies, and desserts.
• Decorate cakes and pastries for customers.
• Use artistic skills to decorate cakes and pastries and mix icing colors.
• Conduct inventory to ensure proper levels.
• Maintain standards for quality, cleanliness, organization, customer service, safety and sanitation.
• Stock, fill, face, and ensure pricing accuracy while rotating bakery items.
• Operate bakery equipment such as heat sources, mixers, and blenders.
• Take food orders in person and by telephone.
• All other duties as assigned.

Position Summary

The Pastry Decorator assists in the bakery department by preparing fresh baked goods daily for our customers by following recipes, labeling, and storing baked goods. The role is responsible for preparing and assembling quality food products in a fast-paced environment. The Pastry Decorator is expected to be a role model of the company by delivering excellent customer service while maintaining company core values.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Greet and interact with customers to address questions or concerns in a friendly, service- oriented manner;
• Assist Pastry team with preparing desserts and pastries as needed;
• Take cake orders, ensure the department has fresh fruits and products, and maintain a fully stocked display case;
• Support team with baking various breads, cookies, and desserts;
• Decorate cakes and pastries for customers;
• Use artistic skills to create beautifully decorated cakes and pastries and mix colors for icing; Effectively communicate with management and baking team in order to fulfill and address any issues or needs requested by guests and or other team members;
• Conduct inventory on a regular basis to ensure proper levels;
• Maintain standards for quality, cleanliness, organization, customer service, safety, loss prevention, sanitation, department conditions, and food safety;
• Stock, fill, face, and ensure pricing accuracy while examining the rotation of all bakery products and discarding outdated or spoiled items;
• Work with various professional Bakery equipment, including heat sources, mixers, and blenders;
• Take food orders in person and by telephone;
• All other duties as assigned.

• Improves speed and efficiency of service provided.

Skills And Qualifications

• Valid Food Handlers Card;
• Customer Service, pastry decorating, and retail experience desirable.

Pay scale $15.40-$19.75

The pay scale above is the hourly wage range that the Company reasonably expects to pay for this position.

• Manager roles have a bonus target potential paid out quarterly based on company results/metrics.

Within this range, individual pay is determined by location and other factors including,

but not limited to, specific skills, relevant work experience, and relevant education and/or training.
