Bishop Gadsden Episcopal Retirement Community on James Island, SC seeks a full-time Nurse Assistant (CNA preferred) to provide compassionate care for our residents in Assisted Living. The role emphasizes personal care, dining assistance, and accurate documentation, with a strong commitment to infection control and teamwork.

The ideal candidate has prior CNA experience in long-term senior care, current CPR/AED certification, and good communication skills.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older and in good physical health.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Preferred experience in long-term care for the elderly.
• Current CPR/AED certification or ability to obtain CPR/AED certification upon employment.
• Current SC Nurse Aide Registry CNA Certification, in good standing, preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care for residents and assist with ADLs as needed.
• Assist residents with dining needs and in-room dining service.
• Encourage resident independence and optimal functioning.
• Exercise standard precautions of infection control in resident care.
• Utilize plan of care in delivery of resident care.
• Receive and give reports on resident’s condition at shift start and end.
• Document care in the EHR daily charting.
• Carry and respond to pagers promptly.
• Participate in lunch duty as assigned.

Bishop Gadsden, located on James Island, SC is searching for new team members! Located on James Island, we are a not-for-profit, faith-based retirement community, affiliated with the Episcopal Church. Bishop Gadsden is known as the Southeast's leading life care retirement community. We are located just 10 minutes from downtown Charleston!

This full time role is as Nurse Assistant OR Certified Nurse Assistant requires someone with excellent customer service skills and a passion for working with seniors! The ideal candidate will have prior experience working as a CNA within an Assisted Living environment.

A Typical Day

• Provide personal care for residents, including any and all activities of daily living (ADL) as needed.
• Assist residents with dining needs including assistance to the dining room and assistance with in room dining service.
• Encourage resident independence and optimal level of functioning.
• Exercise standard precautions of infection control in all resident care.
• Utilize plan of care in delivery of resident care.
• Receive and give reports on resident’s condition at beginning and end of each shift via walking rounds.
• Exchange resident information with Clinical Supervisor and Myers Hall Manager on an ongoing basis.
• Document accurately and on a timely basis all information regarding resident’s care in the EHR daily charting.
• Carry and respond to pagers in an appropriate amount of time.
• Participate in "lunch duty" as assigned.

Requirements

What We Need In a Candidate:

• Must be at least 18 years of age and in good physical health.
• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Experience in all aspects of long term care for the elderly preferred.
• Current CPR/AED certification or ability to obtain CPR/AED certification upon employment.
• Current SC Nurse Aide Registry C.N.A. Certification, in good standing, preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and written.
• Ability to stand, stoop, bend, reach, and lift (up to 50 pounds).
• Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time.
• Ability to read and comprehend numbers and written material.
• Ability to represent the Bishop Gadsden community professionally both in manner and appearance.
