Job summary

The GIANT Company is hiring a skilled diesel/heavy equipment mechanic at our Carlisle, PA location. You will perform preventive maintenance, diagnose and repair tractor and trailer components, and ensure compliance with DOT/EPA regulations.

Preferred candidates have a Class A CDL, EPA 608 certification, PA State Inspection License and at least 3 years of relevant experience, plus a high school diploma or GED. This is a full-time on-site opportunity with competitive pay and benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; technical school preferred.
• At least 3 years of experience as a qualified diesel or heavy equipment mechanic.

Responsibilities

• Complete preventive maintenance on tractors and trailers as required by state, federal and internal procedures
• Diagnose and repair tractor components: air system, electrical system, steering, brakes, air conditioning
• Diagnose and repair trailer components: air system, electrical system, brakes, undercarriage, suspension, trailer structure
• Diagnose and repair reefer unit including refrigeration
• Change or repair tires or coordinate with vendor
• Keep work area neat and clean
• Abide by all company policies and governmental regulations
• Responsible for DOT/OSHA/EPA record keeping as pertaining to the shop and equipment
• Coordinate road breakdowns with company equipment while on duty
• Responsible for snow removal of yard and scraping of trailers during weather events
